  • Three isn't bad, it's average. This was a good fit for our family with young kids for a short cave experience. Shout out to Will, who did a nice job as guide. The cave itself shows a lot of damage, as...  read more »

  • Remember to wear a light jacket as temp is always 52 degrees in cave. Also water friendly shoes are a must as some areas had small pools of water we had to walk through. Tour lasted about 45 min. Guid...  read more »
  • Crystal Lake Cave was a great tour and money well spent. People who are complaining about getting wet don't understand how caves work. If they were to make it a dry environment they would stop the formation of the cave. Not to mention that would be impossible to achieve. Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend it. 10 out 10 would do again.
  • Worth the trip to see this beautiful cave! Interesting trivia, wonderful people and worth the 4 hour trip! We are definitely going back! P.S it's a cave, the people that complained about being's your sign.
  • Stumbled on this place on the way to Galena. Worth every minute and penny. Awesome Rock formations, interesting trivia... Beautiful!!!
  • "Natural" cave, that has been mined, then dug out 5 feet and concrete poured in it. Pretty sure some of the formations have been moved from other areas of the cave for more wow factor. Not very well managed. Tour guide was OK. Bring rubber boots or you will leave with wet socks.
  • My husband and I had traveled to the area for the weekend and had no set plans. We spent the morning walking around in one of the parks in Dubuque, and then found this on the GPS and decided to give it a try. It's definitely not a place to go out of your way to visit, but if you're in the area, it's enjoyable. Wear shoes with good traction and casual clothes, and be prepared to duck a lot. Also, if you prefer your recreation to be more lively or challenging, this is not for you. It's a simple tour: you are guided through the different tunnels and shown various formations, miniature lakes, and other things like that. If you find that sort of thing boring, don't go. My husband and I like simple things like this, so we enjoyed ourselves. There is a gift shop with the usual hodgepodge of things, some overpriced, some not. Also...if you care...there is indoor plumbing, for which I was very grateful.
