For us, great wine comes from grapes grown in the rich Iowa soil. We’re known for dry reds that fill drinkers with the warmth of the Midwestern sun. And our sparkling whites are fermented a second time in the bottle to ensure your glass is filled with tiny, effervescent bubbles. Our wines are also estate-bottled, which means we control the entire process starting from planting and ending with corking. We’ll help you pick out something that fits your palate, pairs with a meal, and we'll show you around our vineyard too. Even though our wines are internationally recognized, they’re grown right here in Dubuque, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

    Barrel Head was a terrific discovery for our small group, by far the most informative and fun winery tasting we've ever experienced. Our host and owner John went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and led us step-by-step through the tasting, detailing the finer points of wine making from grape to glass and how to get the most pleasure from drinking wine. Barrel Head's exceptionally flavorful award winning estate wines we're also very reasonably priced. We're already planning our next visit!

    What a great place to have a wine tasting and some wonderful conversation. The owner and his wife were so welcoming. Great property. Next time we visit we will allow more time to enjoy the scenery and atmosphere. The wines are delicious. Left with 4 bottles. A must get is there homemade champagne. Will be back.
