  • We are locals and have eaten here on many occasions. The building is full of local history. It also has local art, books from local authors, etc. Now, the important stuff. First, let me say that they have a rather unique menu. That being said, the prices and the service times have increased, while the portion sizes have decreased. For example, today I ordered the Tia Chicken Pizza. The taste was great, but there were only two, half-inch pieces of chicken on it. This was a personal size pizza that costs $10. I know that some of the locals (including us) have scaled back visits due to the increased prices and the decreased portion sizes. They do stay fairly crowded though, and many folks stop there while traveling to the New River Trail, or just passing through. The food quality is usually good, but that does depend on what is ordered. If the portion sizes returned to what they were prior to their new chef, it would be a place that we would eat at more regularly.
  • wife and i had lunch at the restaurant today. excellent food and wait staff. pulled pork and chicken were smokey and perfectly prepared. The veggie bar was an experience all on its own, could not have been any better. We traveled 60 miles one way to try the restaurant out on a tip by a friend and we will go back soon.
  • So on a Friday night traveling through the area we decided to stop and get dinner. The place was semi busy (no wait) .. they placed us in a back room. We placed a drink order and an appetizer ( blue cheese chips) . Appetizer came before drinks and was even cold. We waited 45 min for our food .. I ordered a burger Med w/ sweet potato fries .... burger came out seared on the outside raw on the inside.. not rare but raw.. I went and found the waitress. She took the burger back and left my fries. Manager brought my burger back out (no new fries) asked me to check it I did and it was well done no pink. I just said it's FINE. A few min later she returned with new fries ( nice gesture but every real restaurant always brings new sides) she asked my wife how her food was ( cob salad) she said ok but it's missing the avocado. Manager said they are out of season ( maybe you should tell someone before you order) then the chef came over and asked how the burger was I said fine but it's well done .. she began to argue saying only a 2 degree difference between Medium and well. ( actually 10 degree) so the offered a free dessert . We declined and asked for our check.. manager went and got the check and brought it back out and said " please don't let this keep this from you coming back " my wife stated I will not come back until new management . She didn't take that well and became argumentative. My wife ( which worked in fine dining ) said just swipe my card. Manager then took the ticket and said it's on us. I said I would pay for the food and she walked away. We went and found our server and gave her a cash tip.... I know the customer isn't always right. But you never argue with the customer...
  • Fun find! The decor inside is lovely and the food was amazing! I had the pear gorgonzola flatbread and loved every bite! The prices were also great. We would definitely go back if we found ourselves in the area again.
  • Don't know why this place got so many positive reviews. As soon as I walked in with my brother hostess was acting strange. Asked to seat us in the attic where there wasn't a/c. There were 5-10 open tables downstairs but they said we couldn't have them. awkward time when we drove out of our way to visit and get food at what we thought was a friendly place.
