The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is located in northeastern Pennsylvania, within the boundaries of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA). PEEC has been an independent residential environmental education center since 1972, serving a national and international community of students, teachers, adult learners and professionals.

PEEC offers a variety of programs throughout the year bringing national leaders in education, natural history, nature studies, ecology and outdoor/environmental education to PEEC for intimate learning experiences. PEEC also sponsors professional development institutes for teachers and educators in the tri-state area (PA, NY, NJ) on a yearly basis. The majority of these Institutes offer Intermediate Units for in-service credit for participating teachers.

PEEC’s programs are individually designed to meet the specific needs of each participating group including: school groups of all ages, scouts, youth groups, educators, special interest groups and families. All programs are cooperatively designed with participating agencies. PEEC staff is often called upon to design and implement programs that are beyond the scope of existing activities in order to meet the special needs of visitors.

  • Awesome place to take the dog for a hike and swim. Several miles of trails. Usually will encounter other people, but usually very friendly. Science education center is very cool. This is operated by a private non-profit.
  • Great cabins and the activities were never boring. My favorite was orienteering as well as canoeing. LOVED IT!!! My dad went to a similar place when he was younger and told me all about it. I was exited and it turned out being exactly what he told me it was going to be like. #peechype
