  • I have been meaning to visit Bannack for years, since some of my patients raved about it, but I just never got there until this past year. I visited it 30 Sep 2017, finally! I arrived before any of th...  more »

  • Very interesting. staff very knowledgeable lots of buildings to look thru has free garnet and gold panning.
  • Worth the time if you like to see things as they were in 1862
  • Worth the drive. It was a fun experience actually being allowed to go into historic buildings for once. I brought my dog and she had a great time. It was a windy day so the slamming doors was a little unnerving at times.
  • Awesome time with the family. Albeit a tad chilly at night although it was nearly June.
  • We walked the old gold mining town of Bannack and was in awe of how well preserved the State of Montana has kept it. The street housed all the old homes, motels, stores, etc,. I was intrigued by the gunslingers who made the town unsafe but gave it a colorful history. The sheriff Herry Plummer who became one of the murdering thiefs was later hanged by one of the gallows he had built. His story goes on and is tacked up on the wall in the bar where the gang hid out and made plans to rob the next stagecoach coming in to town. We toured a lot of the town and the hotel that was formerly the courthouse was really large with a built in safe and kitchen items still intact. The jail seemed like it could still keep a criminal locked up. The Christian Church still had most of the pews bolted down and it seemed that it could still hold a sermon .
