  • Been coming here since I was in diapers. Forty years of clams crabs dunes and family fun. Miss the homes there, they added so much character. Hopefully they can capitalize on Cali's assault on business.
  • This is the only outside camping area! I really like with my two favorites the ocean and motor home love the sand dones bon fires on the beach....I'll never forget the times I've been to Dillion beach the best two worlds city and quite small beach hometown feel...if I could move there I would....but I get work for the best supermarket ever! • Place is getting worse and worse. Our last experience on June 17th through 19th was horrible. To start with, a guy on a quad runner came up to some of the people in our group telling him all of the reasons that they'd kick him out, when he had just pulled up. If the trailer stuck out more than 10%, if you're too noisy, "I don't care if you have more than one spot, you can't go over the line". To make it even better, there was at least one group that had no less than six tents and a trailer in one site, that didn't get bothered at all. We got targeted right off the bat, and all we had done was pull in to park our trailers Apparently the rule of "Quiet time from 9PM to 8AM" no longer applies there either. On Father's day at 4AM, people started showing up to start clamming due to low tide. By 6AM, there were so many people outside of the camping spots along the Sea Wall that the day parking was completely full, and they were parking down the middle of the roadway. Not a single word was said to them by any Lawson staff. More than half of the people that had paid to camp for the weekend were standing outside in their sweats, pajamas, whatever looking at no less than 100 people out there blowing up rafts, talking, yelling and this went on until past 10AM. On the way out, we complained about the problem and were told "I don't know how they got in there, I didn't let anyone in until 6AM" by the lady at the gate. On the good side, Fish & Game was out there writing tickets to all of the poachers who were over limit, taking undersized clams and keeping a watchful eye. As for the campground itself... It looks awful. They're finally removing all of the old dilapidated trailers that have been falling apart, and there are huge messes everywhere because of it. They apparently thought it was a good idea to wait until prime camping season to start actually pulling the trailers out that are crumbling away as most are pulled out. It is what is, and this place looks awful. The staff is hit or miss, some are really nice and some are complete ***holes. We'd been going for a couple of years out there, but won't be back. After that last experience and obviously Lawson family doesn't care about the campers who paid full price. They're trying to cram in as many people as possible into the smallest sites you'll ever come across. Even the Meadow area has been "expanded" to have what looks like a parking lot, but they're actually designated tent camping areas with a parking area. We'll be going elsewhere from now on, this place is progressively getting worse and they're doing a stand-up job at making sure the guests are treated horribly.
  • Stayed here for 3 days, liked it. Gets cold at night and often windy during day. Came with RV and spots on grass are best. Quiet a hike uphill thru sand to get to beach but very clean beach and not crowded. There were a couple of dogs off leash.
  • I've been here before and had fun as a kid. However as a adult every time I have called to make a reservation no one answers. I have driven straight out there in hopes that someone would be able to check me in. But no one was at the gate even though I was there before their posted close time. No one was in the store either to help. I went to bodega bay instead and a great time.
