  • Place is getting worse and worse. Our last experience on June 17th through 19th was horrible. To start with, a guy on a quad runner came up to some of the people in our group telling him all of the reasons that they'd kick him out, when he had just pulled up. If the trailer stuck out more than 10%, if you're too noisy, "I don't care if you have more than one spot, you can't go over the line". To make it even better, there was at least one group that had no less than six tents and a trailer in one site, that didn't get bothered at all. We got targeted right off the bat, and all we had done was pull in to park our trailers Apparently the rule of "Quiet time from 9PM to 8AM" no longer applies there either. On Father's day at 4AM, people started showing up to start clamming due to low tide. By 6AM, there were so many people outside of the camping spots along the Sea Wall that the day parking was completely full, and they were parking down the middle of the roadway. Not a single word was said to them by any Lawson staff. More than half of the people that had paid to camp for the weekend were standing outside in their sweats, pajamas, whatever looking at no less than 100 people out there blowing up rafts, talking, yelling and this went on until past 10AM. On the way out, we complained about the problem and were told "I don't know how they got in there, I didn't let anyone in until 6AM" by the lady at the gate. On the good side, Fish & Game was out there writing tickets to all of the poachers who were over limit, taking undersized clams and keeping a watchful eye. As for the campground itself... It looks awful. They're finally removing all of the old dilapidated trailers that have been falling apart, and there are huge messes everywhere because of it. They apparently thought it was a good idea to wait until prime camping season to start actually pulling the trailers out that are crumbling away as most are pulled out. It is what is, and this place looks awful. The staff is hit or miss, some are really nice and some are complete ***holes. We'd been going for a couple of years out there, but won't be back. After that last experience and obviously Lawson family doesn't care about the campers who paid full price. They're trying to cram in as many people as possible into the smallest sites you'll ever come across. Even the Meadow area has been "expanded" to have what looks like a parking lot, but they're actually designated tent camping areas with a parking area. We'll be going elsewhere from now on, this place is progressively getting worse and they're doing a stand-up job at making sure the guests are treated horribly.
  • Stayed here for 3 days, liked it. Gets cold at night and often windy during day. Came with RV and spots on grass are best. Quiet a hike uphill thru sand to get to beach but very clean beach and not crowded. There were a couple of dogs off leash.
  • I felt nostalgic just coming in the gates. This place reminds me of old-timey places my family stayed in when I was a kid. When most people didn't clamor for heated pools and a huge expanses of concrete. Yes, it's closer to boondocking than most campgrounds, but the land is spectacular. I wish there were more of these types of places around. That being said, there are few things that could use improvement. The Lawsons seem to have no difficulty making signs for their rules. It would be great if they put a bit more effort into directional signs. Navigating the place at 9pm was rough. I had to guess which route to take. The site I reserved online had a placard with no number on it, so I had to guess which was mine. I don't mind providing my own electricity, but the price is a bit steep for a no amenities sort of place.
  • The place are perfect for camping, fishing, catch Geoduck and much much more so much at Lawson landing but much watch out for fishing game even you do the right thing. The fishing game person come out to harass the good citizen who wanted to have fun at the camping site. Let me tell every body a short story. We were camping at the site, On Sunday morning we had six guys went out to dug geoduck. I got nine, my brother got eight, the rest got nine, seven, and six. But one of our friend dug ten hole he got ten of Geoducks one of them was very small he felt it to little to take it home for his family for dinner, he put it back where it was belong. When he came to shore the fishing game stop him and gave him a ticket over $1000. On that day the fishing game also look at my geoduck, he said Mr. Van let me see you clams. I said here are my clams. He said only 9 today. I told him I only catch 9 today if I got ten you going to give me a ticket. Because last time I went clams digging I got ten, he said I got 11. He just put word into my mouth. This fishing game guy most likely come out to harass good Asian U.S. Citizen. I still have the ticket too. This story are 100% true. I would like some body work at the higher office contact me and also I would like have some investigation on this case. Please ........
