Artists such as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye recorded songs here. You can visit the famous Studio A, see a collection of photos and artifacts, and stop by the upper-floor apartment where Berry Gordy and his family used to live. • In the Detroit area a bit depressed, delve into the history of 50 years ago. Mandatory guided tour, about 45 minutes. Lucky to get a ticket for the next half hour without reserve. Given the tight spaces the guided tour is right choice, but you would like to have stayed longer to scroll through all the written records, pictures, objects of the walls. A piece of American history. Being in the study, the Stainway, the room echoed to names like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, the Jackson 5, Martha and Vandellas is a privilege. Applaud the Guide: very nice, engaging and able to enthuse in explanation.

  • While visiting a friend took me to the Motown Museum. Not knowing a lot about Motown, I found it educational. It was a tad underwhelming, but all in all good. I think the tour would be better if they ...  more »

Our tour guide was so enthusiastic and full of energy and she really loved her job and it showed!! I went with my mom dad and sister and they had a very enjoyable experience!! Great Staff!! Great attention to details and great overall experience!!
  • Very atmospheric and surprisingly emotional experience. The tour guide we had was fantastic and the finale in studio A was memorable. Absolutely incredible to think of the great music that came out of what was essentially a garage done up by Berry Gordy‘s father. A must stop tour for anyone who’s ever turned on the radio and listened to music.
  • Awe inspiring, amazing bits of history! Our tour guide was great and you can tell that she truly believes in the importance of motown and its role in history. It was mind blowing to see the amazing amount of time, work, love, sweat, tears and faith went into the whole movement. It is truly a must see if you are near Detroit.
  • Love this place! My surprise visit was super inspiring, as I'm an entrepreneur as well. It was fascinating to see how the influence of the founder's parents and family helped him develop into such a smart businessman. The tour was fun and our tour guide was enthusiastic and friendly. She also really knew her stuff. I highly recommend this tour! Lots of standing but there's an elevator to avoid most of the stairs.
  • I recommend every music fan 2 take the tour. You can just feel the greatness in the air! Very inspiring
