To remember the period when Berry Gordy and an array of talented artists created the timeless Motown sound, visit Motown Museum. Known as Hitsville, USA, this humble building was once the headquarters and recording studio of the Motown record company and the birthplace of innumerable hits. Artists such as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye recorded songs here. You can visit the famous Studio A, see a collection of photos and artifacts, and stop by the upper-floor apartment where Berry Gordy and his family used to live. Berry's own stereo system and Michael Jackson's fedora hat and sequined glove are just a few of the treasures here. All tours are guided, and the building is fully accessible to people with special needs. • To stand in the studio where so many iconic artists recorded their early hits is a moving experience. A small museum telling a big story. Great guide told the Berry Gordy & Motown story with passion and energy.
  • Great tour guide, very knowledgeable and fun energy. Seeing the original studio is the coolest part. Looking forward to the expansion when there is more on display to see
  • Great place. Get your tickets online. They seem sell out on the tours. If you don't have a ticket you can only view the gift shop. If you have a group (tour group) that needs tickets, they will allow you to purchase your tickets over the phone. I hope this helps. May the Peace of Christ be you always.
  • This place is something you HAVE to do if you visit Detroit. Save yourself the trouble and order your tickets online. Try to go early so you can easily find a space to park. There's no parking lot. You have to park on the street. The gift shop is expensive. I wanted to buy something but I'm such a cheapskate and I couldn't even justify the cost of the refrigerator magnet. I adored our tour guide she was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Being in the same place where the Temptations and Martha and the Vandellas stood and sang was EVERYTHING! I learned a lot and I got excited about being in Motor City. I've always thought it should be a public policy that every public building in Detroit should pipe in Motown music exclusively! There's so many hits. The tour is totally worth the ticket price and I plan to go again with my sisters (my background singers) so we can perform !
  • What a gem. I was very, very impressed. I was as giddy as a kid by the end of the tour. It was such a positive uplifting experience. Gave me great pride being a Detroiter.
