It is amazing to think that I remember when this building opened in 1977, and it seemed futuristic and sort of a recognizable icon of Detroit. Because of continued attention to upkeep and renovation (...  more »

I was here for a conference and am always happy to come when the conference is in the D. So much to do and see. Check in was smooth and I was given a room on the 20th floor (although I prefer higher.)...  more »

Built by Ford, now, GM's oversized billboard. Basically, a very large building with hotels, shops (very few), restaurants, office space, condos and apartments, all adjacent to a big chunk of the Detroit river shoreline. Here's some fun facts: 73 stories no kids ( unless accompanied by an adult) 29 restaurants 1300 hotel rooms 3 miles of riverfront My opinion: for the most part boring, so a good place if you want to relax and take a nap. Same is true if I were a tourist visiting Detroit: the showcase of GM products is less than what you'd find at a smallish GM dealership. If you're here on business, it might just be your ticket.

I've stayed here twice now in the last few years, and I love it. Its a really neat building and has pretty good views no matter where you stay.

Historic and cool place to visit. On the waterfront across from Canada.

Nice building to see in person, also there is lots to do inside.

The Renaissance Center is a One-Stop Shop. The architecture of the building is a sight to see, outside as well as inside. Many stores located on different levels. An amazing food court, a showroom for cars made by the GM company, so you get to see the newest GM cars, and learn about them. The Marriot Hotel is connected, the views of the Detroit River and skyline of Canada is just pure **gasps**

Where to stay in Detroit

Detroit offers accommodations to suit every type of traveler, and you don't even have to stay in the central business district to take advantage of the finest hotels. Downtown lodging gives you easy access to most of the city's major attractions, but choosing a more affordable room in Detroit's outlying neighborhoods can also be rewarding. To explore the city's famously diverse neighborhoods, consider staying at a budget-friendly guesthouse on the southwestern side of the city.
