  • You have to get an early start. It's more of a Produce District than a Farm Market. It stretches over several blocks. It has large open-air pavillions, specialty shops and restaurants. Everything comm...  read more »
  • A Saturday must-go in season. Fresh produce, baked goods, meat, fish and anything else edible at the weekly farm market. Stock up on healthy food and rub shoulders with your neighbors in a festive environment.
  • Eastern Market is the nation's oldest farmer's market and welcomes more than 40,000 visitors each Saturday. They come to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices, honey, jams, cheese, breads, pickles and more. Treat yourself to fresh cut flowers, herbs, annuals and perennials, shrubs and trees. It's much more than a 'farmer's market,' though. It's a shopping district offering an array of restaurants, ranging from breakfast joints, Thai, Italian, corned beef, coney dogs and some of the best pizza this side of Chicago. Get buzzed or take in a game at one of several bars. Come here to buy the popular 'Detroit vs Everybody' Tshirts in the boutique by that name, or treat yourself to jewelry, antiques or supplies for your Cannabis garden. You also can find essential oils, black soap, shea butter and incense. Shop for fresh, Amish chicken and other meat, fish and seafood at several butchers here, too. Having a party or event, come here to get nearly everything you need. You can't beat the prices anywhere and you can get everything by the case when you need volume. Stop by Bert's Marketplace for amazing music, BBQ and soul food any day of the week. You'll be sure to meet interesting folks and have big fun. If you come on Saturdays, there's enough to do here to fill an entire day. But any day is guaranteed for a good time. Love, Love, Love it! Eastern Market is EVERYTHING.
  • Oldest open air market in western hemisphere holding it down in good old Detroit. Lots of wholesalers with vegetables, meat, fish, etc. but they serve retail customers as well at most places. Large public markets on the weekend are a great thing to do in Detroit any week. Great selection of goods with nice atmosphere.
  • This historic market is one of the largest in the country, and probably coolest! It's the perfect destination for a weekend morning: start at Germack's Coffee with some hot drinks and snacks, then walk around the sheds for fresh produce, flowers/plants, and baked goods. Take an art break by walking around the photogenic graffiti art, or walk into the Red Bull House of Art. Make your way into some of the stores (Devrie's is my favorite! Make sure you sample the Marlenka desserts). Take a break at one of the many restaurants or bars in the area (I recommend Supinos pizzeria). Meat lovers should cross the bridge into the Gratiot Central Meat Market. You will want to repeat this every weekend!
  • What a wonderful and bizarre experience. There's a great selection of produce and plants from a variety of local vendors as well as some exquisite food choices from whatever food trucks show up any given Saturday. I've had Mexican for lunch and Beignats for dessert on the same day. I love to wander around and follow my nose to see what adventures I can get mixed up in. There is a new crowd every Saturday along with interesting street performers expressing their talents. It's definitely an experience everyone in the metro Detroit area NEEDS to have!!
