  • Couldn't stay long here but long enough to want to go back. Just a beautiful drive we ended up taking from the Salton Sea into San Diego. We even saw some Wild Turkeys running around. Great for picnic...  more »
  • One of the best state parks in San Diego county. We always do Stonewall Peak, which is a fairly easy trail for me. It was more of a challenge for my 6 year old, but he loves sitting at the top and loo...  more »
  • Coming from Wisconsin, I always disliked how many people are on the trails immediately around San Diego. I am used to quiet, less-populated hikes and sought a similar experience in California. Althoug...  more »

  • I love this place. I try to come out here once a month to clear my lungs from the city air. The trails are well maintained, with some fairly challenging hikes that take most of the day, but you could also just stroll around some of the lower trails and barely break a sweat.
  • We camped at Green Valley campground in Cuyamaca at camp site #74. This isn't a good site. There is no level ground to place a tent larger than a two person tent (maybe). The restrooms were fine but a bit away, a problem if you need a nightly bathroom trip. The Rangers were all very nice and helpful. They made routine drive through which we hadn't seen at a few other campgrounds. Our group did the trail to the falls. It's a great trail with friends to provide an interesting picture on the rocks, we poised like a band from the 80's. All in all it was a great time, just don't expect much sleep at this site due to the fact there is no level ground on which to pitch your tent. All in all camping is about friends and adventure which you can get here. Happy Camping!
  • Other than the beautiful atmosphere. The camping location I was not impressed with. The bathrooms were awful. No one informed us that we needed quarters for the very disturbing, unclean, showers. Our camp site trash cans were already full when we got there. Staff was friendly. But I would not recommend going in the beginning of June. The amount of bugs, bees, ants, etc. was a bit much for a family.
  • The campgrounds are nice, bathrooms very clean with full showers for a quarter. Plenty of room and hiking for familes. Campsites are very good sizes.
  • Recovering from knee replacement and challenging my trust in my new knee. Challenging start but great trail for a novice. Enjoyed weather, scenery, people were welcoming and polite. Great for family adventure hick.
