  • Dropped the wife and adult children at the Varied Industries building so that they could go to the Craft Fair. Everyone had a great time.
  • We enjoyed our inaugural Iowa state fair & signed up for their notifications. Their announcements are timely & insightful. We look forward to our next visit.
  • I live in Des Moines and will be skipping the Iowa State Fair this year in favor of Minnesota's. Food vendors are repetitive and not really unique. I get the feeling many of the spots are being sold to the same business with 5+ trailers. There are 10 food stands I'd visit in Minnesota for every 1 in Iowa. Better free stuff from product marketers. The Ford promotional trailer at the Iowa State gave me a free pen. In Minnesota I got a t-shirt, bottle opener, USB car outlet and a pen. Beer selection is crap and it went up in price. I swear my choices are Budlight Lime or some crappy craft brew. Can I even get a PBR? Minnesota had variety and their Grain belt stand wwas good beer. Iowa, we can do better.
  • I've been coming to the Iowa State Fair for over two decades now. Every year I walk through the Varied Industries Building, see the Butter Cow/Butter Sculpture, walk through the Midway, and gorge on great, albeit overpriced food.
  • I can see why it's 'the only fair enlisted in 1000 places to go before you die'. There's SOOO much to do there! There's not THAT much to do in Iowa, but this is the biggest thing of the year, alongside with the Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway. Plenty of play areas, food stands, cow milking contests, pig grooming booths, etc. There's lots to do here!
