Had a nice visit to Botanical Center. It is reasonably priced and a great place to spend a summer day. The flowers, plants and the waterfall are very nicely done. The only negative was the restaurant....  more »

We visited the gardens last fall. Many of the flowers were past their bloom, but there were many plants to enjoy. The summer will be very nice (haven't had the time in town to go again). The staff wer...  more »

We visited while in town for some much needed relaxation. The gardens are a bit on the small side overall, but reasonable for the price. They featured a corpse flower, which is a rare site all on its ...  more »

The Botanical Garden has many wonderful plants to see and an intricate layout with many individual areas as well as an outdoor pond and walking garden. It is highly accessible for those with physical disabilities. It takes about 1 - 2 hours worth of walking to see/browse the entire facility, which the layout allows you to pick and choose whatever you want to see. The price is under $10 for an adult with discounts for children and elderly. The main area, the enclosed dome, features tropical and desert plants. The indoor temperature was 100.7F in this specific place, but well worth touring as many plants are exotic and do not grow anywhere near Iowa. Elsewhere indoors they have jungle plants and flowers with a beautiful variety of orchids and hibiscus. They even have a small area with some carnivorous plants. There are also some meeting rooms and a small cafe with limited hours. Outside they have a large water fountain with a walking trail going above it that showcases some small trees and plants tolerant to the local climate. This also leads into nice shaded area that overlooks the river as a nice rest stop. Next to this, they have water plants with a variety of water lilies, cattails, and lotuses, and an outdoor display of bonsai (weather permitting)! The oldest bonsai is from the 19th century! Overall, there's a lot of nice things to see that very easily accessible (there were a number of elderly guests with wheelchairs), that offers some educational information and cool sights. Highly recommended!

Small but beautifully done. A wonderful variety of plants and flowers. Good restaurant; we enjoyed a glass of wine and lunch outside by the lotus pond. Very nice people check you in.

This is a beautiful garden with lots of varieties of flowers. My only complaint is that an adult ticket price of $8 feels a little steep since the garden isn't very big. It's very sunny, best to go early or late in the day to avoid the heat.

Awesome place to take kids, can be warm but lobby is air conditioned if you need a break! Outside garden area is spectacular! Staff is friendly and helpful!

This is a good place if you're into plants. Lots of info about plants and plant geneogly. I'm someone who is not as interested as spouse. Has nice views outside of garden and desmoine river. Gets little warm on inside green house but nice outside.
