  • Lot's of vendors and some really great samples and overall a great day of fun get there early as this is a very large market and wear some good walking shoes.
  • You'll have quite a few options when it comes to produce. Our strategy is to do a complete outside walk first to check out the different vendors then go back to ones we showed interest in. Almost ever...  more »

  • I think this may be the best farmers market in Iowa. Some small, local markets may have better traditional Iowa produce, they don't give you the variety of options that you get in Des Moines. Throw food venders, crafts, baked goods, and liver entertainment in and you have a one stop shop for you groceries. Crowds can be off putting if you come late morning so plan accordingly. Also note that it is dog friendly but not all patrons are happy about that.
  • Large, friendly farmers market that's one third produce and meat market, one third hot food, one third antiques and gifts. Vendors are nice and helpful. It can be exceptionally crowded and almost always hot. Strollers, dogs, and slow pokes can be frustrating.
  • This weekly event is the bomb! It is where all cool kids hangout!!! Don't listen to JT below. He hates everything!!! JT, did you pick up the trash or just complain about it?!?! Thought so!
  • The best farmer's market I've been to, and I've been to a lot of them. Live music, a huge variety of vendors, super friendly people... What's not to love? And if you're a dog lover, you'll get your fill of dogs for the week, because so many people bring theirs!
  • Go by eight, or it will be crowded. Loved the easy atmosphere. I went on a cool morning, which was perfect for me . Great food and live music
