  • You can see paintings by Bacon, Hopper, Wood, Picasso, Braque, Warhol and quite a few others. The venue is not excessively crowded. It has a nice collection of modern art. And it is free.  more »

  • It is a very fun place to go. Especially for little ones. The oos and ahhs as they see cool sculptures made me smile. I recommend that you come with an open mind. If you come because someone else told you to you won't have fun. Take your time and enjoy life.
  • Nice collection of art, mostly modern, including Van Gogh's only drawing & pieces by Durer, Cezanne, Warhol, Picasso.
  • FREE admission! They have great temporary exhibits and key permanent pieces. Also offer classes in the building next to the art center. Nice trail to walk around the grounds as well.
  • It was okay, it was nicely laid out. It's more for art hippies and not for people that enjoy pretty art. We got kicked out because no one told us we weren't allowed to have our 6months old baby's diaper bag. That's why it got two stars. We got told at the last room to take it outside to our car so we just left. We probably will never go back if we ever visit Des Moines again. (We never got the bag out or bottles or anything since I'm breastfeeding) we were told to take it out since I had sun tan lotion bottles in the side pockets. I guess they must had people spraying their kids down sun tan lotion before inside 😔 We were going to donate at the end but since we got treated like outsiders we didn't.
  • Free admission to a worthy collection of various forms. Take a quick stroll through the buildings, or spend hours studying and observing. Staff is friendly.
