  • I've been to zoos in other cities. And for the size of Des Moines, this a good zoo, animals are cared for and easy access  more »
  • Fine for the kids but this zoo is pretty small. Don't go out of your way but if you are trying to keep small children busy on a Saturday it is an okay outing.  more »
  • Bring the kids and have a great day with the animals. Watch for specials evenings for adults and special occasions.  more »

  • A very clean, well kept zoo. The summer is definitely the best time to go but we went in early November and still had a great time. Gift shop is a little pricey but they had a few things marked 50% off so we took advantage. A lot of information on the animals and habitats is posted.
  • Small zoo, nice friendly staff, price is high only takes about 30mins to see all of the zoo. If money is going towards the animals care then its worth it. Maybe were just spoiled because we live near the best zoo in the world, (Henry Dorley Zoo).
  • Brilliant to walk through for young, old, middle-aged and disabled; as they give you an oppurtunity to rent a wheelchair for the old or the less mobile-to-walk. Could see a wide (enough) range of animals, but I won't give anything away. You'll have to see for yourself which animals dwell here, so you're in for a surprise! :D
  • I usually go to zoobrew on Wednesdays throughout the summer which is very fun. There are lots of free samples of wine and beer. Also there are several poke stops around the zoo so you can continuously walk laps getting the Pokey stops. Rare Pokemon spawn here sometimes
  • We had to go see the baby Rhino, who is now viewable to the public. Its hard to believe that a Rhinoceros could be cute, but she is.
