We felt it was time Colorado was better known for its contribution to the whiskey maker’s trade.
Whiskey has been made here in the high country for at least 200 years. The only problem was, not a drop of it was legal.
It was always made in small batches, for personal consumption and sharing with friends. And it was so good, someone always made more.
We at Stranahan’s found that pretty inspirational.
So we set out to make our own Colorado small batch whiskey. And we mean small batch. (We distill about six barrels a week.) When it’s time to bottle some – the whiskey tells us when -- we select two to six of our choicest mature barrels and combine them to yield a small batch with a reliable, yet distinctive taste unlike anything else out there.
Not a bourbon. Not a scotch. Not a Canadian.
Stranahan’s is a straight Rocky Mountain whiskey. The recipe for our mash is different. The way we distill it is different. And yet, drinkers of single barrel bourbons, and single malt scotch aficionados, all seem to find something to like in our handcrafted product.
Everything in our process is designed to create the highest quality whiskey possible. Please visit our website www.stranahans.com, or better yet, come by the distillery for a free tour and a taste, and we’ll show you how we make the Rockies finest whiskey.
Stranahan’s® Colorado Whiskey. 47% Alc./Vol. (94 proof). ©2019 Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, Denver, CO. Please drink responsibly.

The tour was informative and entertaining. I am not a huge whiskey drinker but enjoyed the tastings and learning ‘how’ to drink whiskey - and what to look for when tasting. more »
I would highly recommend Stranahan’s to anyone wanting to visit a distillery! The tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. I can’t say enough good things about them. The lounge wasn’t open... more »
Took a tour at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and finished it off in the bar by trying the snowflake whiskey the tour guide recommended. The tour was super interesting and provided 3 shots of whiskey tasting with a super cute (no fall over) take home shot glass they were able to box up for us. The tour took a little longer than an hour, but we sat and chatted with the locals in the bar for an hour after that as well. Everyone there is extremely welcoming and we loved it! Hope we can find this whiskey in our home town :)
Whiskey is very good. Tour was a great time. The only suggestion I have is to add a photo option.. Similar to splash mountain. So you can see the look on your face the first time you taste their whiskey.
Awesome tour! We booked late on a Saturday, did the hour tour of the distillery. It was fantastic. Great explanation of the process plus they are very generous with pours during the tour. If you are a whiskey lover, treat yourself to this tour. Meaghan was our tour guide and she was awesome!!!! Best tour guide of any distillery we have been on (and it’s been a few ;-).
This is a MUST visit if you are ever in Denver...oh, and it helps if you love whiskey. Book a tour for $12 and be prepared for some amazing tastings. This is the first whiskey distillery in Colorado. After walking the building, you sit down and get to try 3 different types of whiskey. They are heavy pours so grab some water up front and bring it with you. Our guide was super fun, informative, and really made the tour worth the trek. Btw, from the water to the barrels, what makes this spot different is that everything is super American and made in the USA. At the end of your tour, try the snowflake at the bar. It only comes around once a year but you're able to taste it at an additional cost. It's worth it. People wait in line for a week for this stuff. Oh, and the manhattan and old fashioned look amazing. Wish I could've tried either of them but I hit my limit, for sure. Also, you get $10 off a bottle if you decide to purchase something.
Did the tour for the first time today and it was a lot of fun. The whiskey was great, glad we got to try the original, diamond peak and sherry cask. Definitely will have to bring friends to the tour.
