4.8/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web
Towering 4,348 m (14,265 ft) above the Great Plains, Mount Evans serves as a symbol of the Denver skyline and the site of the highest paved road in North America. The peak represents one of Colorado's "fourteeners," mountains standing more than 4,267 m (14,000 ft) high. You can hike and drive along its extensive network of trails and roads. As you make your way to the summit, you'll be treated to sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and plains; keep an eye out for the occasional grazing buffalo. Take precautions before you go--the peak's extreme weather at the summit and its height can cause altitude sickness. Plan to see Mount Evans and other attractions that appeal to you using our Denver vacation planner.

  • Finally, I saw some Aspen Trees in autumn. They are all yellow, it's really amazing. The ride is easy, in addition to the glacier and the amazing scenery we find these age-old trees twisted by the wind of the Rockies. Down go to Georgetown for a little dip at the time of the gold seekers.

  • Whether you hike to the top, or drive up to it on the highest paved road in North America, this peak is an absolute must see for visitors to the Denver area. The views are spectacular! Don't forget to bring a jacket, even in the summer.
  • Great, gorgeous! Have a good driver if going to summit! Made me love Colorado even more but also gives such perspective of hiking to any summit! Take the car if you can watch out for mountain goats too!
  • Cool place to check out, the road up is beautiful and a fun drive, I would not Recommend for low clearence sport cars (ie anything thats been dropped.) Wild life is not afraid to pass close by.
  • We love going to Mr. Evans! You can drive to the summit. There is a fee of $15 a vehicle to drive along the road to the summit. Also, during the summer months they are very, very crowded. The views are spectacular. Also the trailhead are extremely crowded during the summer, especially in weekends. Go early to get a parking place! It is worth it!! There are camping sites, but you have to make reservations well in advance!!
  • Mountain is beautiful. Amazing views. However, $15 to enter and it's super busy. We barely reached the top parking lot. Way too many cars allowed up on a narrow and winding road with large drop offs. Again, stunning views but too busy to enjoy the top.
