  • Was surprised to find out that architect was from Seattle because I really like the building. Loved Frank Lloyd Wright pieces as well as Ames pieces. Very nice gift shop.  more »
  • Unexpected pleasure! Works by Vance Kirkland are amazing from his early days to funky later days. The best part was the ability to see his work studio. The museum is packed with other items, from...  more »

  • When I was planning my visit I saw this museum and it was top on my list. Kirkland did not disappoint. First, the building is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The museum packs a lot of amazing design history inside and does a great job of it. Unsurprisingly, the layout is well thought out. The rooms along the promenade walk you through the history and evolution of design better than any history class or any other museum I have seen. The museum is set up more like a furniture store or the home of a collector than a white-walled modern art museum. Each room offers a holistic glimpse into that era of design. The items are presented in a way you rarely see at other museums, in a more natural and contextual space. The studio space feels like it is still someones home. It does not feel like much was changed to make it a museum. The smaller space and more natural layout makes for a unique experience. A fantastic museum filled with a great history.
  • Most museums will only give you fine art, or textiles, or pottery, etc. But the Kirkland does a wonderful job of combining several art forms all at once within engaging period presentations that immerse you in the exhibits far more effectively than traditional museums. It was a wonderful experience. I only wish it was larger and there was more of it to enjoy!!
  • I bought the city pass and this museum was included so I figured I would check it out not expecting much. I was wrong! This museum is fantastic and filled with exhibits on furniture and home decorations. You can see how even common items like chairs, plates, cups, and tea sets can become works of art. The museum is well-organized and rooms are done based on certain time periods. The art from Kirkland was colorful and unique and nice to see as well. I spent over 2 hours here.
  • Wonderful display of old, new, unusual stuff. You could spend hours looking at each piece, but it's best to focus on the artifacts you like most - funnier, pottery, paints, sculpture, whatever. The best attic I've ever been in!
  • Amazing museum! Its actually fairly small but you will love all the art there, definitely one of the coolest spots when I visited Denver. Kirkland's art is also super cool, his evolution of style was really cool to see! 5 stars and well worth the trip.
