Denver Zoo, Denver

(4.3/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
The first natural-style zoo in North America, Denver Zoo is home to 3,800 animals of more than 650 species. Look for features like bear mountain and the largest gorilla enclosure in the world (where you might find gorillas are napping in their hammocks). In the zoo's open aviaries, walk among exotic birds and even some two-toed sloths. To really get up close to the animals, head to the giraffe enclosure, where you can feed these gentle giants some lettuce. Check the daily schedule for wildlife presentations. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Denver holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Denver Zoo and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • This is a nice zoo. The exhibits are pretty good, most of them are on the smaller side. The food is okay, we don't always eat when we go just because it's not really good. There's never anything new. We would rather go to the museum, which is nice because it's right next door.
  • Visited from wyoming! Took my husband on a trip to see some cool things. He has never been anywhere neat or even on very many vacations... we decided to stop in and walk the zoo. We're so glad we did it was incredible! The food was great and smelled fantastic. The animals were amazing. My only complaint was that the gift shop didn't have a great selection of lion merchandise.... but still amazing experience...it's a must see!!!!!!
  • It has great interactive things with animals. All the animals are well taken care of and that means a lot. The prices are low. The zookeepers are very nice. Over all I loved my time there and hope to go back soon!!!!
  • They have animals here. Don't put your kids in the animal enclosures. They don't like that and they usually ask me to leave afterwords. You're only allowed to ride the Okapis around whilst eating ice cream for a short time and then they stop you. Make sure you share some ice cream with your selected Okapi. Be careful of their enormous tongues. They'll try to eat the whole thing in one lick.
  • Nice zoo with close interaction in some areas with animals. Caught a free show with sea lions, short but fun. Large zoo with loads of animals but cages were small, great for viewing but I'm sure they feel like caged animals in there. "Zoo life" care takers seem to take care of cages like a 4 star hotel so not a bad deal I guess.
