Denali, Denali National Park and Preserve

Rising 6,168 m (20,237 ft) above sea level, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America and the center of Denali National Park. Also known as Denali, it has two significant summits. The taller South Summit is the third most prominent peak in the world. Five glaciers slide down the slopes of the mountain. Every year the park draws hundreds of thousands of visitors eager to take a close look at the mountain's majesty. However, you won't necessarily be able to see the peak; it's often completely obscured by clouds, even on a clear day. • Being able to fly over and around Denali and the Ruth Glacier still stand as one of my top 5 life experiences. There is no denying the awe-inspiring Mt Denali. Ruth Glacier is astounding in it's own right. It is a living thing: moving ocean ward every year, and carrying moraines with vast tracks of the taiga forest with it. Go there if you can. Stand in awe of the mountain. See the living river of ice and forest before it subsides completely.
  • In the central part of southern Alaska is located Mount McKinley. It is 6193 meters high and is the highest peak in the United States and North America. It is covered with snow and ice throughout the year. In most of the year climatic conditions here are extremely harsh and unfavourable. But the reason for this is not just the high altitude. Very important is also the location close to the Arctic circle. In winter the sun hardly shows and sunny days are very few. The sun shows timidly over the horizon. In summer is the opposite. The sun hardly hides, but weather remains very cold. Summer is the best time of the year in which to visit this magical place.
  • I mean honestly naming this mountain after McKinley was sort of a bad idea to begin with, let’s be real. It wasn’t a bad hike. Took me like 30 minutes give or take, but climbing while doing a handstand to the peak is a little tough. I had my yeti filled to the brim with Red Bull so that might’ve helped. I’ll do it again, I’m trying to master levitation so I can get a sick picture on top.
  • Denali is six million acres of wild land, bisected by one ribbon of road. Travelers along it see the relatively low-elevation taiga forest give way to high alpine tundra and snowy mountains, culminating in North America's tallest peak, 20,310' Denali. Wild animals large and small roam un-fenced lands, living as they have for ages. Solitude, tranquility and wilderness await.
