  • Accessible, just off Route 50, Sky Meadows is a lovely walk in itself as well as a gateway to trails in the surrounding hills, with great views and gateway to the Appalachian Trail, for the more ambit...  more »
  • The park is located not very far from Rt. 50 and I-66, which are major arteries of Virginia. Rolling hills, lush greenery, beautiful ponds and horses add beauty to the area. An ideal spot to spend a d...  more »
  • There really is something for everyone here. We stayed for just a few hours and did a short hike and visited the historical site. Beautiful views from the top of piedmont overlook trail.  more »

  • Entering the park cost $5 per vehicle up to 8 people, or more depending on the type of vehicles and number of passengers. The visitor center located in the historic site is on the left, a distance from the entrance. On the right is the park office and the farm. The trails begin at the park office. I recommend studying the trail map before going. I didn't and wasn't sure where the 5K trail would take me. I hiked to the picnic area, about a mile from the park office, and turned back. The picnic area has several picnic tables and bbq grills. I believe there are restrooms there, too. The view, with the lake, behind the visitors center and the historic site is beautiful... Amazing. It's a must see. I can easily spend hours at this park walking all the trails. The gift shop and unisex restrooms are located in the same building as the visitors center, which looks like a trailer at the back of the historic area. I love that I get to see farm animals during my hike. I saw cows, and not sure if there are others.
  • I really loved this park a lot! I went in the summer and thought I was going to die from the heat, but it was so worth it when I got to the top! The views were beautiful and you can walk on part of the Appalachian Trail, which is always awesome. I also tried the Lost Mountain side of the park and I wasn't as impressed.
  • Sky Meadows is a good state park with only a $5 parking fee. There is a historic buildings area with period re-enactors and educational presentations as well a gift shop. There are also trails including paths which lead to the Appalachian trail as well as nature walk loops.
  • This Virginia State Park is an absolute gem. It's a nice place to go think and feel the mountain breeze or bring your girlfriend, wife, grandma and kids. The park rangers and volunteers are dedicated and friendly. The mountain hikes are fine and view of the valley is outstanding.
  • Great place to hike/walk without all the travel required to reach Shenandoah. Well marked trails make it easy for all, although there are some steep climbs on some of the trails. Fun to link up with the Appalachian Trail if only for a little bit. Great views.
