  • Stopped in after going apple picking near by just thinking the kids could run around, not knowing it was such a beautiful historic area with so much to do there. The kids learned a bit of history, got...  read more »

  • This park is my favorite park in the state of Virginia, it is a very quiet place with beautiful mountain view and a great place for hiking
  • The old farm installations are quaint. I would have loved to go inside the houses. It looks like sometimes they have blacksmiths working out there. It would be fun to go in that time. I loved the walking trails. They reminded me of being at my grandmother's farm. There are plenty of places have barbeques all over the park. I would recommend it very highly. The view from the mountain on highway 50 is breathtaking.
  • The network of hiking trails leading up the slopes west of the park lead to overlooks with glorious views of the northern Virginia piedmont, and even connect with the Appalachian Trail. On the way up, there is a memorial to CPL Randal Morgan, 11th Virginia Regiment, Continental Army, died 8/16/1777. One of the few remembered by name from those years, he reminds us that Virginia was a battleground where the United States of America was forged in blood, stretching from the colonists to the War Between the States and beyond.
  • I read the review below by Charlotte Slaiman because I was looking up reviews about this park to see if I wanted to go. The most off putting part about the review was the response by the owner (the park). It was snide and condescending. The first sentence from the owner already made me not want to go. I can see why one may think star gazing is available. Other reviewers had listed stargazing as their top reason for going there. I can also understand why people are going to google reviews to get info on the parks instead of the parks' websites. Google reviews is the first thing that pops up when you search "State Parks" and the Virginia state parks websites are not very searchable or user friendly... These sites are not very good. I don't know... but it seems like it would benefit both parties in the future if the Parks tried communicating more through Google Maps/reviews or something similar... NICELY.
  • Apparently star gazing is no longer allowed here. We came for the Perseid Meteor Shower which was supposed to be the best in a decade. Unfortunately our evening was cut short by park police shining their very bright truck lights at us for several minutes and kicking everyone out of the park. Not sure where we will go next year but I guess not here...
  • Amazing place. Star gazing once a month at night and trails with spectacular views. Very impressed.
