  • I was born and raised in St. Charles Missouri, the home was taken over by Lindenwood University, I am vsry disappointed that they moved period buildings on the property creating the "homestead village" something that did not exist on the property at the time the Boone''s lived there, It is just my opinion I think it distracts the setting of the home, Lindenwood has sold or turned the home over to a historic preservation group with the rider that the Lindenwood name remain attached to the property, I was on a tour of the home October 2015 had a blast with the Lindenwood tour guide, she had it right that Daniel Boone did not ware a coon skin cap, but wore a wide brine dome type hat, I ask her how the home endured the New Madrid earth quakes, her answer was that the home had not been built yet, from my Web research the home took 3 years to build and was completed in 1810, the earth quakes occurred between 1810-1812, not sure, sounds like to me the home was there when the earth quakes occured
  • Learned alot from tour. Staff friendly and knowledgeable
  • Fun trip for the kids
  • Went to original burial site to reverence a great American hero, can't express the awesome sense of the presence of greatness, Daniel Boone deserves so much more attention as a statesman frontiersman and friend to mankind as he encountered it in its raw form, May his soul rest in the presence of God.
  • A beautiful drive takes you through winery country to a quiet village out of time. Daniel Boone's home anchors a collection of historic structures, brought here to preserve them and their history to create a small town including homes, white steeple church, blacksmith, mercantile, farm, school house and more. Always a pleasant visit. The visitor shop has some cool items and the new pavillion provides excellect, open air respite from sun and rain. Usually your best chance to see reenactors and demontrations are on the weekends. Call ahead to find the best times. I recommend the summer pioneer camp for kids as well as the amazing candlelight experiences at Halloween and Christmas. This gem doesnt market themselves as well as they should but that also means you can have a pleasant experience without the trampling masses. I recommend a late afternoon winery visit to close out the perfect day.
