  • Daniel Boone Home is an unexpected treasure tucked back in sleepy Defiance, Missouri. Once parked, you make your way to the gift shop and talk to one of the relaxed employees about taking either a guided our self guided tour. Self guided tours are free and the option my Mom and I went with. However, if you want to be able to enter the buildings and hear more in depth facts/be able to ask questions, the paid tour is probably best for you. Adult tickets are $6 and Children's are about $3. The grounds themselves are quaint and charming, full of lush greenery and flowers. The buildings hearken back to the 1800's and each have their own distinct history and purpose. A one room schoolhouse as well as a gristmill, chapel, and several cabin style homes are on display apart from the main house. It took us about an hour in total to walk and explore the village by ourselves. We stopped to peek in windows and consult our map for details about the structures. Once our tour was done, we perused the gift shop and called it a day. I would recommend coming earlier in the morning when it is cooler to avoid the blistering sun and many mosquitoes that dominate the open air grounds. Especially if you bring young children, coming in the morning might protect them from overheating/sunburn/bug bites that might cause problems or squabbles later on. All in all, the property was very well kept and gave you a real sense of stepping back in time. I would visit again, most likely on one of their special reenactment days or during the holidays for their Christmas activities.
  • Beautiful park!! Cool historical recreation complete with engaging docents in each of the buildings in Boone village. The school house, Carpenters workshop and the Smithy were our favorites. The Boone House is accessible with a docent for a small fee, otherwise the park is free of charge.
  • The house is a remarkable structure with 2.5' wide walls. It was actually built by Daniel's son Nathan. The grounds have a number of imported homes to create a pretend town. It takes away some of the authenticity. The views are beautiful. Daniel Boone died here, but his remains were originally placed 13 miles away in Warren County.
  • Like going back in time in a beautiful setting!
  • Its pr`etty Dank and MLG. You can see where Pepe and Dat Boi used to live. There was so many memes. Sanik was meh fav. lel
