  • This place is also known for its nesting eagles and has a website with a live cam. Didn't see them today but the place is only 5 min out of town so easy to come back to. Check back for review updates ...  more »
  • It was a freezing day and there was no one around but we still loved the fish hatchery. See several varities of trout from minnow size to full grown and you can freed them. It was too late in the seas...  more »
  • The hatchery is a wonderful place to visit. Quiet, well maintained and quite lovely. Would definitely recommend and return if in the Decorah area.  more »

  • A fun place to take the kids for an hour. Bring quarters and some disposable cups to hold the fish food. The trout will jump and swarm, which the kids love. There are bathrooms and a picnic shelter area. It's also adjacent to the famous eagle cam nests, so you have a good chance of seeing some bald eagles too. The bike trail around Decorah goes right by here and this is a great stop.
  • It was fun for the kids! Bring quarters so you or your children can buy fish food from a dispenser to feed the trout. While we were there, the eagles were nesting and people were taking pictures of those magnificent birds!
  • Simple fun mixed with a tranquil area, allows for a relaxing time at the Decorah Fish Hatchery. Plenty of parking and a public restroom facility make it a convenient and stress free place to visit with family and friends of all ages. A small waterfall fed by a spring within a limestone cliff are a short walk from the hatchery. The hatchery itself has thousands of fish outside that you can walk up to and enjoy. You can purchase a handful of fish food from multiple machines at the location. Feed trout of all sizes and watch them swim and jump.
  • A great place to visit while in Decorah. A beautiful setting to hang out, watch the famous Decorah Eagles fish, and do a little fish feeding yourself (bring a few quarters). Nice accessible facilities and plenty of parking. Located right on trout run trail, so it is easy to get to by bike too.
  • At first thought, visiting a fish hatchery doesn't seem that appealing. The Decorah Fish Hatchery, however, will surprise you. Visit the hatchery and see the different trouts, see the stream where they are released, walk along a scenic creek, and stop by to see the Decorah bald eagles. This is a great place to take the family for a 1-2 hour excursion.
