  • We went on a road trip to the John Day area wanting to explore a part of Oregon we hadn’t been to before. We had never previously heard about the John Day fossil beds, which in hindsight is a crime...

  • Super engaging exhibits. The staff are so knowledgeable as well. Entry is free and although it is a popular spot, parking and entry are not difficult on weekdays at least.
  • Wonderful information and specimens! If you can manage, visit first so you get the whole overall picture of the 3 units and the geological time periods. Clean and well organized. Restrooms are very pleasant!
  • Really great museum! It's beautiful and fun for both kids and adults. So much information and beautiful displays.
  • Hands down, one of my favorite places in Eastern Oregon!! 😊😊 They’ve many displays of fossils; the center also includes a dedicated site for studying and storing fossils. You can watch scientists at work on weekdays! I’d whole-heartedly recommend watching the documentary at this center. Make sure to take your kids here! This place has so much to offer in terms of knowledge and scientific education! Also, if you’re checking out the John Day Fossil Bed National Monument, try to make this the first stop. That way, you will appreciate the magnitude of your surroundings! 🙂
  • Beautiful spot with some nice exhibits outside and clean restrooms. We were in a rush while here, but would visit again. We didn't get to go inside because they were closed.
