#4 of 6 in Parks in Dayton
Farm life in the 1880s comes alive at Carriage Hill MetroPark. Visitor Center exhibits start the journey back in time while demonstrations, reconstructed and historical buildings, and even period farm animals paint the picture. There are also acres of natural beauty to enjoy and a horseback riding center.

  • We love going to Carriage Hill Metropark! Fun to walk there, see the animals, see the old cemetery and house. We love the walk to the ponds. Great place for all ages!  more »
  • When we have visited this park we usually find that the people around us are calmly enjoying a day at the park. We have taken small walks there and tried to fish there, too.  more »
  • fun to ride the trails. Can rent a horse or bring your own. Trails are well maintained by the park district.  more »

  • This park is a gem! They accommodate horse trailers for horseback riding on their many trails. Great fishing in 2 lakes (one is more like a pond). No license required. Plenty of hiking trails. Photographers love the historic scenery and are always present.
  • Place is great to come with family or just by yourself. You can do tons of stuff. Fish in any of the ponds without a license. You can walk miles of trails. They also have a living farm that you can see them caring for animals. You can also pet a few if they come close enough. The center also has a historic classroom and play house for kids. Plus tons of information about the area from the past. Finally the best part is the penny candy store that had closed but is now reopen. Must check that out.
  • This park has a bit of everything. . Historical house's and actors eager to teach. .miles of hiking. .lake for fishing. Horse trails.. Plenty of shelters for partys..and best of all...a penny candy shop and a concession stand..totally worth the trip
  • Nice place. The little house setup, the blacksmith, the little shop and the horses are all pretty neat. The schoolhouse and the candy shop are the kids favorites though.
  • Great out door place to go. It's free unless you go to the Gift/Candy shop. Nice people.
