  • I've been through the Valley many times, but this time my father and I stopped in at the Resort. Reasonably priced, at least in May, it was a very nice facility, though easy to get lost in. The meals were good, and the balcony off the room was a great place to sip wine and watch the world go by, including a military fly-by. The place was very quiet otherwise; the rooms in the second tower were very nice, beds comfortable, and if you visit Tucker County, this is a good stop. I was not there during ski season, which I imagine would be a vastly different experience.
  • Been here twice. One year it was the most snow they'd had in years (Feb - 2015) and the other there wasn't any snow and it rained (Feb - 2017.) We rented a cabin both times, and has a wonderful time! The lodge staff is very friendly and accommodating. In regards to the ski resort, the lift tickets with rentals were $86 in 2015, and they are now $105. While the natural snow is hard to control, due to the weather this year the slopes were definitely not worth it. However, again, the staff at the Ski Resort were awesome. I'm hoping future years when I make it up there, that there is now like there was in 2015. Even if the weather isn't what you want, the lodge and the cabin area are well kept. There are other things to do as well. Because it was warm, we ended up grilling on the fire pit by our cabin and drinking beers. Which absolutely made it worth the trip!
  • My wife and 2 boys (1 & 3) stayed here and really enjoyed the resort. It was really great for all ages for a winter getaway. The rooms were clean and spacious and the amenities were all there. The boys enjoyed the gift shop, cafe, arcade, pool, restaurant, and generally running around the place. Mom and Dad enjoyed snowshoeing the nature trails and ice-skating with the kids. Kids eat for free in the Hickory Lodge which was nice, though I think the cost per adult covers that. We will be back!
  • My wife and I travel to Canaan Valley Resort State Park for an annual ski trip every year. We generally stay 2 to 3 nights with friends. This past trip we spent in one of the few cabins they have at the park. We always have such a great time on this trip and save for a few issues, this is a 5-star trip. We historically picked this resort due to the price being quite reasonable for a weekend of skiing, however, we have noticed the price climbing significantly for everything from lift tickets to food at the lounge and certain issues such as the bar getting rid of waitstaff and a full menu. It was one thing to pay $10 for a burger if I was being waited on and relaxing during lunch with a delicious cocktail. Now I'm paying that to sit in a cafeteria at school lunch tables.
  • I was surprised at how nice this resort was compared to how inexpensive the rooms were! The employees went above and beyond and we're more than helpful.
