  • Free but be kind a eave a donation! Lots of displays of local history and "goings on" in the area over the years. Well laid out with friendly and helpful staff. Nice for an hour or so.
  • Great museum, really fascinating local history. Very well curated and well described, located in a beautiful building. Definitely worth a visit

  • Nice museum exhibits that are well planed and executed.
  • Whenever my husband and I travel to Western Maryland to visit friends, we make sure we stop at the Allegany Museum to experience this gem of a museum. With each visit, we learn more of the significance of this area in the State of Maryland and nationwide. The oversight of this museum has been thoroughly and sensitively handled. The exhibits have been keenly developed to demonstrate the importance of Allegany County in the industrial revolution, as well as the crucial part it played in the development of the transportation system and coal industry of the United States. You will find that the Allegany Museum will appeal to both adults and children and you will come away with a fuller understanding and appreciation of this pristine, beautiful mountain area.
