  • We ride the C&O trail every year and the tunnel is one of the highlights! It does require a flashlight or a light on your bike as it is very dark inside.  more »
  • Thankfully, 2 other travelers told us to walk our bikes through & so glad they did. It is kind of scary going through here - but you must if you are biking the C&O. Have lights on your bike &/or head!...  more »

  • One of the most exciting things I have seen on the trail. This tunnel is very long and dark, worth spending some time in the area to explore. Going though the tunnel would recommend a flash light.
  • We had a great time today. If you're looking for something family friendly and fun that's free, you should go see it. Don't forget to take a camera. Where's the parking area to the tunnel isn't that far are two-and-a-half-year-old walk there and walk back fine.
  • One of many awesome tunnels on the C&O Towpath.
  • Beautiful but scary. The towpath shelf on the south/east side is very narrow. I pushed my bike for a long way. Make sure you have a good headlamp. We had 700 lumens!
  • This is a great trail to hike and the tunnel is super cool! Really neat fish in the stream along the trail.
