  • See Luo the hippo. He is a Florida resident by an act of the Governor. You can feed the Manatees. Plenty of snake for the boys to look at all behind glass of course. Take the book ride from hwy 19 to ...  more »
  • We stopped in here and had a great 1 to 2 hour visit, it was perfect! Easy access, nice volunteers (especially the snake expert!) good snack stops along the way, and it was decorated for Christmas :)

  • This place is wonderful. It's a spring fed river feeding into a national wildlife refuge while managing to coexist with neighborhoods and somehow remain unspoiled. The water is clear, clean and beautiful here and the area is home to an amazing array of wildlife. It's one of the best places in the world to not only see manatees, but to swim with them in their own environment.
  • After having a sumptuous lunch at Crackers restaurant we headed over to the Crystal River National Wild Life Refuge which is operated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. There we met and were photographed with a life sized statue of a manatee and her calf. This is a fantastic place to go to learn all about manatees.
  • The water is so clear that you can see the fish and alge at the bottom. It is very refreshing and a good place for canoeing, kayaking and tubing.
  • Awesome for sightseeing and meeting manatees, you can come across them anywhere in the lake, just be aware of the muzzle going out of the water to spot them!
  • Clear spring water which is naturally cool. Bring a mask and snorkel, then rent a kayak to explore.
