Historic Site
Crystal River State Archaeological Site is a 61acre Florida State Park located on the Crystal River and within the Crystal River Preserve State Park. The park is located two miles (3 km) northwest of the city of Crystal River, on Museum Point off US 19/98.Under the title of Crystal River Indian Mounds, it is also a U.S. National Historic Landmark (designated as such on September 29, 1970).

  • The temple mound and burial mounds don't take long to see, but the view from the top of the temple is lovely. Nice little museum. It's great to see the state preserving Native American history.  more »
  • Just driving along sight-seeing, it was a very nice drive with an even better view. Lots of bird watching and trails.  more »

  • This is an interesting place whether you have have an interest in Indian/Native American culture or just history in general. The ranger at the museum was very knowledgeable and friendly, speaking with me for an hour and answering questions.
  • Loved the glass bottom boat ride. Knowledgeable opetator/captain. Wheelchair accessible and very accommodating.
  • Awesome place to check out . Historical museum, the temple mound ,the view from the top of the temple mound and the face in the rock.
  • Cool little park with an awesome view! Quiet, quaint, & historical. Love it! Very clean park and facilities as well.
  • Awesome boat rides and is a beautiful place to hike and eat lunch.
