  • We loved the three trails we hiked while we were there, but the traffic was absolutely crazy. We were in a traffic jam going to Clingman's Dome for over an hour with people trying to find a parking pl...  read more »

  • A great place to get away from it all! The Smokies are practically my home away from home. The views and trails are spectacular and no matter what your age or fitness level you can experience breathtaking scenery. Finding some of the more secluded spots is great because you can see an abundance of wildlife, but my personal favorite thing about the Smokies is all the waterfalls!
  • Amazing beauty all around. Great state park to visit. Tons of hiking and sites to see. It's definitely one of my favorite places to visit in the spring and fall. It's a little hot during summer, and summer rains come fast. Great Hike via the APP trail via the smoky takes about 7 days to do the whole smokies. Great shelters during the whole trail just make sure you register before with a park station before heading out. Trails are mild and most hikers can take it on.
  • One of the most beautiful places in the United States and worth spending time here to explore and to relax. The hiking trails through Blue Ridge are wonderful and extremely popular, but my favorite activity is hanging out at the camp site and cooking (be bear aware). The west coast has the old growth forests, but we have the old rolling mountains. I recommend this park if you want to relax and enjoy the hiking trails. Those of you out West should come here to experience why Lewis and Clark wanted to explore the rest of the country. Also, the hikes happen below 10,000 feet, so they are much easier than anything in the Rockies.
  • Absolutely spectacular. Probably the most pleasant highway driving experience of my life! The beauty and magnitude was unreal. Driving through here during the fall is even better, as all the different hues of greens, oranges, reds, and yellows blend together magnificently.
  • I can't say enough about the atmosphere in the Smokies. I've been here at least 4 times, including a 4 day stretch over the Christmas holiday about 10 years ago and another 7 days just this past Christmas and there is just nothing better than a luxury cabin in these scenic mountains. I've heard some horror stories about some cabins others have wound up with so I do recommend caution in who you're doing business with, perhaps seeing the cabin first hand to ensure it's condition. As for me, no complaints ... I recommend a vacation cabin in the smokies to anyone. It's leaving that's tough.
