It is open daily except Mondays; an admission fee is charged. The gardens can be traced to 1987 when a first cottage garden (1 acre) and nature trail opened in Corpus Christi. The gardens have been actively developed since that time.Major exhibits now include an arid garden; Exhibit House with bromeliads, cycads, cacti, and succulents; hibiscus garden; hummingbird garden; landscape demonstration beds; orchid house with more than 3000 orchids; a major collection of more than 100 plumeria varieties; contemporary rose garden with a large pavilion; sensory garden; and water garden. The site also contains a mesquite nature trail through 30acre of brush. It features some 35 species of woody trees and shrubs, herbs, grasses, and cacti, as well as white-tailed deer, collared peccaries, and coyotes.

  • My poor visit may have something to do with it being mid July, but I have to be honest with the review. My kids had more fun feeding the huge iguanas and birds than anything else. It was hot, a lot of the flowers were brown from the heat and there was all of 1 butterfly in the butterfly house. Not cool. We did find some plotted plants for my grandmother that she hasn't been able to find easily elsewhere. Maybe if it had been spring it would have been a happier visit.
  • The reptile room and the birds were the highlight of our trip. Would love to see all the plants and flowers during spring because they do have a great variety. Now for the negative. The person at the front desk was rude and wasn't aware of promotional discounts listed on the website. We had several questions along our walk but couldn't find a single person to talk to. We paid for leaves ($1 for a single leaf) to feed the turtles, but we never saw them. My son was so excited to play in the play house, but couldn't because it had a very active wasps nest inside it. Their wasn't a single butterfly in the butterfly house. I was disappointed in our visit.
  • Amazing! One of the must visit attractions in Corpus Christi. This botanical garden boasts many diverse ecosystems and garden areas. Has dozens of interesting animals and even allows you to feed some of the birds and turtles! It's a great size not too big not too small. Lots of comfortable benches spaced throughout, many in shady areas of cozy flower filled nooks. Great for photographers or families.
  • Very nice. Not a floral garden like Dallas but more oriented to the plants and wildlife if this area. The volunteer staff is exceptional and they give guest encounters with the many birds and reptiles. Very large boardwalk over the wetlands. For $8 ($6 for military) you can't beat it!
  • My first time there. My nephew went with me (he had been before and knew I'd love it) and we had a great time - spent well over 3 hours there enjoying everything!!!
