Corona del Mar State Beach is a protected beach in the state park system of California, United States. It is located in Corona del Mar, Newport Beach, and operated by the city of Newport Beach. The 30acre park was established in 1947.HistoryThe beach had been a surfing hotspot until the late 1930s, when the Newport Harbor jetty was extended, leading to the creation of The Wedge as a popular surf break, but shielding Corona from all but the most southerly swells.Surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku is credited with the first use of a surfboard for rescue purposes at Corona del Mar beach in 1925, when a charted fishing vessel capsized in heavy surf and Kahanamoku rescued people via surfboard.

  • Nice beach with upscale neighborhood , pretty beach houses everywhere. This place seems to enjoy good weather year round. Definitely worth a visit when you are in SoCal.
  • We had a very nice day in the 70's and with sun out. Great beach to walk on. the rocks were good for climbing. Able to see many very nice homes

  • Friend and I visited this beach last summer. It's got an incredible view from the top at the street level. It's a popular beach with plenty of parking available. It has quite a few beach valley ball courts spread along the beach. A bit further away is the rocky wedge. It's not a pristine sand beach, but it's still quite beautiful.
  • Best beach for kid friendly waves! The currents not to rough, but still exciting enough for the adults too. The water is beautiful and far more cleaner than what you would find at Huntington Beach. Don't go there, come here to CdM! I came on a weekday and it was perfect, not to crowded and found parking easily, really close by in the free on-street parking in the neighborhood. Best beach for swimming!
  • One of the best beaches I've walked on. The currents not to rough, but still exciting enough for the adults too. The water is beautiful and far more cleaner than what you would find at Huntington Beach. A lot less people which is a great thing. I came on a weekday and it was perfect, not to crowded and found parking easily. Beautiful homes...Wish I could own them haha.
  • This place is just beautiful. Especially at sunset this is one of the best beaches in southern California. I have been here several times and I fall in love with this beach. Great for bringing your family, friends and kids.the rockey structures looks great at sunset. This beach is usually crowded in summer time but not as commercialized as other beaches like Santa Monica or Venice Beach. It was great to hang out on the deck on the cliff at the south end of this beach
  • Lovely little beach in Corona Del Mar, it's a great place to take a walk and watch the sunset. They also have bonfire pits to have bonfires as well. It's usually easy to find parking on the street which is free (only allowed on weekdays, not allowed on weekends and holidays) and they also have a lot with paid parking as well. Great views of the boats navigating through the channel into Newport harbor and there's also a rock you can climb onto where you can sit and watch the ocean.
