  • Very nice when entering through the maritime forest. Well marked trails, great interpretive signs and amazing views of the sound. Lots of opportunity for wildlife viewing.
  • Very nice but you need 4 wheel drive to visit the beach and see the horses.
  • Pedestrians only. Calm, shaded, quiet. Easy stroll along flat terrain on either a boardwalk our a well marked trail. No trouble with bugs when we were there at 9:30 - 11:30 on a 90dF day in July. Beautiful Live Oak and Loblolly Pine forests leading out to a brackish swamp with views over the something or other estuary. :-)
  • Who knew the Outer Banks had such incredible flora and fauna????!!! Taking a stroll through this area is a MUST for visitors to the OBX. And, also, a great way to beat the heat of the day.
  • Great little boardwalk trail to run on through the Reserve. Trail connects to the bike path so there's easy access for runners/bikers.
