Coral Springs Museum of Art, Coral Springs

#1 of 9 in Things to do in Coral Springs
What began late in 1996 as a City project to build a comprehensive recreation and community center, soon turned into The Coral Springs Center for the Arts – a performance theater and art museum. Housed in the impressive 30,000 square foot center for the arts building is the equally impressive Coral Springs Museum of Art which was incorporated in January of 1997.

With its beautiful, open architectural design, and atrium view, coupled with its warm and inviting ambiance, the Museum is unlike any other cultural institution – it is a unique place for all to experience the passion and beauty of the visual arts. Throughout the organization’s tenure, the profound philosophy that art is for everyone remains, and the Museum is unwavering in its commitment in demolishing the stigma associated with art museums. Since its inception, the Museum has been exhibiting vast and astounding works of art. In addition to its impressive indoor galleries, the Museum is proud of its external offerings in the visual arts. These extraordinary outdoor art experiences include an International Peace Garden with majestic mosaic egress, and numerous sculptures surrounded by lush, eco-friendly landscaping, all of which inspire peace. The Museum’s tribute to the Everglades – a 54 x 17 foot, hand crafted wall showcasing the habitat and beauty of the Florida Everglades through over 7,000 3×3 relief ceramic clay tiles lends to the ecological aesthetic of the outdoor galleries. Also, peppered throughout the grounds are larger than life orange slices, a mystic hima lama, ‘Mindscape’ by Yoshin Ogata, and an enormous, beautiful mosaic chair in which to sit and take in all of the splendor of this outdoor visual art showcase.

The mission of the Coral Springs Museum of Art is to create a stimulating and enjoyable educational visual arts experience for the south Florida community, exhibiting diverse Florida, national and international artists.

As a community based organization serving the people of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties for 20 years, the Museum has seen first-hand the needs of the tri-county area. Because of this, the Museum is dedicated to developing and delivering the absolute best in art offerings through classes, and public and educational programs. Some of these incredible offerings include, but are not limited to: C3 – Cartoons, Caricatures and Comics, an event celebrating the wonder and beauty of pop culture; photography for children and adults; ArtStart – an early education program; Art for Warriors – programming for veterans to safely deal with post-war disabilities; complimentary admission the first Wednesday of each month; Creative Coding…Creating Futures – a program dedicated to helping underserved children find their passion and a future through digital art; Kaleidoscope: The Beauty of Autism – a program to help with the cognitive and emotional development of children with varying levels of autism; and ARTiculate – a STEAM program for underserved elementary and middle school students.

Over the 20 year history, the Museum is proud to have touched the lives of, and inspired, over a half a million people through its endless and significant visual art offerings.

  • Wonderful city museum with excellent art classes for children and adults! Employees are very knowledgeable and helpful! It is inside the Coral Springs building that houses the city's theater where there are many outstanding performances! The employees and volunteers are terrific here also!
  • Don't let the small size of this museum fool you. First class works of art and fun family day activities for the kids. The water color exhibit was spectacular - many paintings looked like photos they were so well done. I'm impressed.
  • Great location, super exhibits and special events. Great classes for kids and adults.
  • I came on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty much empty. I’m sure on a busier day the place would be more lively. The pieces were nice though.
  • Lovely as always. Nice to see what they cherish, esp Pablo Cano. A hint...avoid mid day. The Center is a bee hive of activity and some spills into the Gallery.
