Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Coral Gables
Categories: Gardens, Nature & Parks
Home to an extensive collection of tropical plants, including many rare specimens, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden spans 34 hectares (83 acres). Opened to the public in 1938, its primary role is to preserve biodiversity. Discover colorful flowering vines, waterfalls, towering trees, and more. Don't miss the Wings of the Tropics conservatory, where you can walk among vibrantly colored butterflies. If you stay still enough, one may even perch on your shoulder. Experience the sweet smell of ripening tropical fruit at the Whitman Fruit Pavilion. The gardens also host frequent art exhibits.
