Brockway Mountain Drive, Copper Harbor

(380+ reviews on the web)
Scenic Drive Tourist Spot
Brockway Mountain drive is 10 miles long and winds up and down the mountain from Eagle Harbor to Copper Harbor, Michigan. At the top is an incredible view of the surrounding forests, lakes and Lake Superior. The drive is paved, but it is a rough road and must be driven slowly. There are many pullover spots on the 3.5 miles between Copper Harbor and the top. One of the favorite spots is the first lookout which offers a beautiful view of the town of Copper Harbor.

NOT OPEN TO AUTOS YEAR ROUND

The drive becomes part of snowmobile trail #3 from December 1st to April 1st. You can drive up until then, if it is clear of snow of course. Then in the spring it is closed until road restrictions come off. This keeps it from being beat up by traffic until the road bed settles. This is usually early to mid May.

  • Love this drive...extremely scenic with views of rocky outcrops, mountains, lighthouses, etc. Keep your camera handy.  more »
  • Suffice to say, if you are any where near the Keewanaw and you don't do this road, you missed a great experience. Just do it!  more »
  • It's only 9 miles, but the views are beautiful. This would be an excellent viewing area for sunsets and the Northern lights. Continue on and go to Eagle Harbor and Eagle point.  more »
