Admire the wide array of gardens and flora on the grounds of a former pioneer estate at Shore Acres State Park, nestled along the forested edge of the Pacific Ocean. Visit the park and wander its 2 hectares (5 acres) of landscaped gardens, replete with both local and exotic plants and crisscrossed by numerous footpaths. Make your way to the Japanese-inspired lily pond area and pause for a peaceful moment of reflection. Head for the nearby sandstone cliffs to take in a sweeping view over the sea, complete with waves crashing powerfully against the rock below. Keep your eyes open and you may even spot the spout of a migratory gray whale.
