State Park Nature / Park
Admire the wide array of gardens and flora on the grounds of a former pioneer estate at Shore Acres State Park, nestled along the forested edge of the Pacific Ocean. Visit the park and wander its 2 hectares (5 acres) of landscaped gardens, replete with both local and exotic plants and crisscrossed by numerous footpaths. Make your way to the Japanese-inspired lily pond area and pause for a peaceful moment of reflection. Head for the nearby sandstone cliffs to take in a sweeping view over the sea, complete with waves crashing powerfully against the rock below. Keep your eyes open and you may even spot the spout of a migratory gray whale. Put Shore Acres State Park into our Coos Bay trip itinerary builder and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Beautiful old formal gardens, perfectly maintained, I'm told, by volunteers. It was nice and sunny when we visited. No dogs.  more »

  • This is great park with lots of different things. There is amazing garden with different paths to walk around and enjoy all the beautiful plants. There is a path that leads to a beach with cliffs that shelters visitors from strong winds. The park also provides picnic tables and great view of the ocean and cliffs.
  • Beautiful views from a well manicured garden. They also have a wonderful christmas light display during the holidays that brings thousands feom far and wide every year.
  • A very nice place. I wanted the trails to be better marked with distance to next significant point.
  • Beautiful place to visit either on a sunny day or even rainy, fun for wave watching
  • The wave action is spectacular...Love it here.
