Shore Acres State Park, Coos Bay

5.0
#1 of 9 in Things to do in Coos Bay
Admire the wide array of gardens and flora on the grounds of a former pioneer estate at Shore Acres State Park, nestled along the forested edge of the Pacific Ocean. Visit the park and wander its 2 hectares (5 acres) of landscaped gardens, replete with both local and exotic plants and crisscrossed by numerous footpaths. Make your way to the Japanese-inspired lily pond area and pause for a peaceful moment of reflection. Head for the nearby sandstone cliffs to take in a sweeping view over the sea, complete with waves crashing powerfully against the rock below. Keep your eyes open and you may even spot the spout of a migratory gray whale. Arrange to visit Shore Acres State Park and other attractions in Coos Bay using our Coos Bay online travel planner .

  • Although we visited during the festive season, we saved the lights for another year. There is just so much to see and enjoy in the daylight, and for a $5 parking fee, this was amazing value.  more »

  • One of the most beautiful places to visit on the Oregon Coast year round, but it’s really special during the Christmas holiday season. Amazing colors, flowers and plant life in the spring and summer months, followed by an amazing Christmas light display during the holidays. Always something cool to see here. Plenty of walking trails down to the beach below and awesome scenery from the cliffs above the ocean. Enjoy!
  • This place has it all. Stunning views, beautiful/accessible beach, thrilling history and a botanical garden with no known equal. So grateful to find this experience. Even the gift shop was amazing with unique gifts and wonderful knowledgeable staff. It was a great time for my wife and young children along with my mother-in-law. Find a way to get here!!!
  • This is great park with lots of different things. There is amazing garden with different paths to walk around and enjoy all the beautiful plants. There is a path that leads to a beach with cliffs that shelters visitors from strong winds. The park also provides picnic tables and great view of the ocean and cliffs.
  • A unique and beautiful place. I've spent many hours wandering the various trails and peered over the dramatic bluffs.
  • Beautiful views from a well manicured garden. They also have a wonderful christmas light display during the holidays that brings thousands feom far and wide every year.
