  • Tours are available but you can also walk through the building unescorted. Beautiful wood decor, and interesting historical information/pictures are displayed throughout. There's a small African-American display on the grounds. Good place to visit if you're in downtown.
  • At the top of the stairs at State House there is a great view of main street and all the surrounding buildings. It's especially beautiful at night with a calm breeze.
  • This place is way cooler on the inside than I thought it would be. The standout room for me was the House of Representatives room, on the second floor I think. The gift shop had some good stuff and it wasn't ridiculously expensive either. I just wish they would bring back the seersucker ties with the Palmetto/Crescent on them!
  • Beautiful, accessible to citizens, historic - the walls radiate history. Every SC citizen should go see inside at least once. You can even watch the House and Senate in session from the balcony!
  • Great place to visit both as a local and a visitor. Went through a tour of the State House with some out if town relatives and not only is it beautiful on the inside and enriched with a great history, the guide that we had did a great job and you could tell they were passionate about their job. Gift shop was small and affordable and nice staff working there as well.
