  • Quick access to drinks and food at the bar. Very segmented seating areas. A little loud in the main bar area. Limited parking in the main parking area.
  • Someone else put it really well; River rat has come pretty far. They have recently built onto the place, allowing for more bar space/people which was my main complaint, and half the reason why they get a 4 star and not a 3. The beers range from some of the best I've had to completely mediocre. The first half of their big beer draw is that they have at least like, 14 or 16 beers on tap. All beers are $5 and are in an even pint glass. I don't like super (most porters are alright but thats about as far as i usually go) dark beers or IPAs, but friends of mine who do like thoes types of beers fall in love with at least two or three of them when I bring them here for the first time. As for the second half of their beer draw ; that River Rat Red is seriously freaking delicious. But River Rat Brewery selected their River Rat Red as their flagship for a reason. If you drink, at least taste it - something else I like about this place is that they'll generally let you taste a beer or two before purchasing, but don't be a jerk about it. Their food ranged from about average to really good, but nothing ground breaking. Almost everything they had, food-wise, was a little more expensive that I thought it should (not saying it like that but I don't any more, but I've worked many years to restaurants in every different position there is at a standard restaurant except for head chef and upper level management). We used to go there for trivia a lot... This was a time when there was only the inside area - aka seating for about 20/25 people. Lots of people started showing up and it got to be ridiculous. I've done lots of trivia at lots of different places, and i would say quality wise, River Rat's was definitely above average, between the quality of the questions, the way it was set up (5 rounds, 5 questions each, each round has a theme with increasing difficulty and a final wager round), the host herself (Lauren, I think? I can't rememeber, she was super nice and accommodating though), but ultimately, its kind of hard to enjoy any level of quality trivia when you have to plan someone getting there increasing early (we stopped going when we had to get someone there at 30 minutes early to ensure we got a table), its so loud you can't hear the questions/have to ask her to repeat multiple times, and people are (only rarely literally, but) shoulder-to-shoulder with you and the people you came with. Basically, if this place was twice the size, I doubt we would have stopped coming for their Wednesday trivia at 7 (I think? They may have changed it). Just not fun being that close with Every one OR standing for two hours... And I hate to be that guy, but considering that its a bar on a trivia night that kinda directly appeals to college students and has trivia questions that have been pretty "R-rated" at times, parents bringing their kids to an already packed bar just makes zero sense to me. I can deal with people making decisions that don't make sense to me, or even a little noise (like children yelling) in public, but after the second time a kid bumped into me running around, chasing his sister across our table made our decision pretty easy to not come back for regularly for more trivia nights. I don't mind sitting outside if the weather permits, they have corn hole and other lawn games as well as quick board games like connect 4, which I think is becoming a staple of breweries and super awesome, but their speaker system doesn't reach out there, and i can't imagine that im the first person to notice this to their dismay. The staff is super friendly. Can't say enough about them. I think that that's pretty much it. Overall a swell place as long as it isn't packed, but just lacking that last oomf for a 5 star. Go there if youre curious about it, they also participate in another company's deal where they take you to river rat, conquest, and swamp cabbage (2 other breweries in the area), so that you don't have to drive and for like $40 you get a ride, 2 beers at each place, and i think a snack and a shirt or some kinda swag, I've yet to do it.
  • Great beer, and great staff! The beer queso on the nachos is so good.
  • Good food excellent brews. Friendly staff. Dogs welcome!
  • Pretty good tasting beer. Small place that can get overcrowded easily. The food was average, but from looking at the place I wouldn't expect great food. The staff was friendly if you could get their attention. I was never was approached to order anything. I had to go to them.
