It's a great place to camp, fish, explore, and ride your atv's!! The bathrooms are clean and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. It's great for families!
The area is very serene and peaceful. The view is nice and the area is very clean. For fishing, i would recommend using a boat since the banks have cedar in the water for fish habitats.
Kayaking is not to bad but four wheeler trails suck and ranger is a dick. He stopped by yelling who's car is that twice because we had one of the two vehicles allowed at each site with two tires on the pavement and two off. Wanted us to move it about a foot closer to the other vehicle which didn't keep it completely off the grass. Just now he stopped by and made us turn off radio which was barely audible over normal conversation. Park is nice, but the ranger is not friendly at all. Would be nice for a day, but he picks at everything. Wouldn't advise staying.
Great park, drove thru to check it out...swimming beach, camping, nice shower house, boat & kyaking rentals, atvs, dirt bikes, bike trails! Beautiful lake, I'll be back to go camping there some day.
We were excited to go kayaking...upon entrance to the lake we were both about 85% certain it was sewage. The underwater weeds were thick and so abundant they'd snag the oars, making it difficult to get any sort of momentum in the stagnant water. We turned around after 15 minutes and raced to get out. Do yourself a favor and make the trip to current river or table rock lake where it's worth the money.
Great lil park kyakking conoeing swim beach camp ground is nice not a party spot but laid back area. However the fire wood they sell Sucks being your own or a torch to start it.
Highly recommend the hiking trail along the Kelley Branch Trail or the canoe/kayak trail along the lakes. Makes for a great afternoon! Also have 4x4 trails, skate park, fishing, and camping. The gun range is in the same area but separate from the park. Too many rifle ranges with only 2 handgun ranges. Can get extraordinarily busy, but usually ok if you go at sunrise or sunset. Be careful as there are sometimes people out there that have no respect for normally accepted range rules.
