Old Trail Town, Cody
(4.4/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
See what the stomping grounds of Buffalo Bill Cody and Gen. Custer looked like at Old Trail Town, a reconstructed Old West setting. Although it appears the area was suddenly abandoned, the town was carefully constructed in the 1960s using antique materials collected from the region. Visit the memorial to legendary mountain man Liver-Eating Johnson, and explore the log cabin that belonged to Curly, a Crow Native American scout. Explore the other cabinlike buildings, which are decorated with artifacts to resemble town staples, such as a general store, living quarters, and a school room. A small fee gets you access to the grounds for a self-guided. Old Trail Town is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Cody Edition.

  • The whole family enjoyed this attraction. There is a lot of history in these buildings. Make sure you read about them while you are there.
  • Stopped by to walk the old street and peak into the windows of the old cabins. The owners were preparing for a Christmas celebration and allowed us to walk around as they hung lights and made an antle...  more »

  • I was afraid this was going to be a tourist trap, but no, my worries were unfounded. It is authentic, and real deal. Well worth the time and admission price.
  • Lots of great history. Love the old town and all the artifacts from the time period.
  • Nice to see if came earlier back from YNP. Would be much better if it would be better organized inside of some houses, as they looked like a damp location.
  • Had a wonderful time , worth the stop !
  • A must-visit location if you have any interest in the old Wild West. This outdoor museum holds a collection of buildings that played roles in the story of the west. Well worth your time and money to stop and see.
