The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland

(4.9/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
World-renowned for its Asian and Egyptian collections, The Cleveland Museum of Art remains free to the public, as it was originally intended to be, through one of the largest endowments in the country. The museum has more than 40,000 works permanently on display, along with exceptional traveling exhibitions. The artwork inside the museum and the museum's architecture are often equally enticing for visitors. The building was built in the Beaux Arts style using neoclassical white marble, which has stood the test of time over the last hundred years. The museum and Wade Park, which surrounds it, are currently on the National Register of Historic Places. • A huge museum housing phenomenal collections... No way to see it all in a day. They have great temporary exhibits which have admission fees, but the vast permanent collections are free. An excellent museum with countless artistic treasures from all corners of the world.
  • One of the best art museums in the world, and it is free. That means you don't have to rush to try to see it all in one trip - you can plan to drop by, focus on just one thing (such as Medieval Paintings) and leave other sections for other days. You may recognize the atrium of the museum if you saw "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" for the atrium stood in as the lobby of SHIELD headquarters.
  • The atmosphere last night was wonderful. The DJ was great, playing music from the 80s and 90s. People were dancing and mingling with one another. Able to view the art exhibit, do some crafts, listen to poetry from local artist, as well as watch an artist paint showing off his talent. I had a great time.
  • Cleveland is lucky to have such a gem of an art museum. And free admission is just the cherry on top! We could spend all day and cover barely half of the exhibits. And the grounds outside are perfect for an evening stroll!
