Explore a greenhouse simulating the climate of the Madagascar desert, featuring the plants native to the region, including the Madagascar Ocotillo, at Cleveland Botanical Garden. Stroll through the greenhouse stimulating a Costa Rican rainforest, filled with waterfalls and thousands of butterflies. There are 20 gardens featured, with hidden paths between them and a shaded boardwalk. The children's garden features a tree house, frog-filled pond, fountains to run through, and a garden with plants kids can water. You'll want to visit the Guren Art Gallery every time you come, as it features regularly changing works by local and national artists, all of which are inspired by the botanical and natural worlds. • An emerald gem in the middle of University Circle! The Botanical Garden are made up of a number of small exhibits, including Madagascar and Costa Rica rooms inside (the Costa Rica exhibit doubles as the butterfly house), and an herb garden, rose garden, Japanese garden, various seasonal gardens, and several water gardens outside. The property is beautifully manicured and biologically diverse - you can go at any point in the growing season and see new flowers blooming. In fact, I advise going multiple times during the year if possible: it's a treat to see how the gardens change. One downside is that some of the exhibits, especially Madagascar and the Japanese garden, are on the tiny side. The entrance fee is also high enough that you might consider becoming a member - a membership will grant you free access for a year plus reciprocal free access to the Holden Arboretum out east of town. Additionally, by becoming a member you'll also automatically join the American Horticultural Society, which means you gain FREE access to over 300 gardens throughout the entire country.
  • One of my favorite Botanical Gardens I've ever been to. Worth the price of admission, especially in the summer. There is a year around exhibit in the biosphere and a great expansive garden (go figure) outside. This year (2016) they have a tree house exhibit that is pretty awesome. The entire place is wheelchair/stroller friendly too.
  • We had a great time! Bought a membership and and can't wait to go back! Beautiful gardens, fun tree houses, delicious food, and the glass house was amazing!
  • We visit the Cleveland Botanical Garden every year. It's a wonderful place to explore with gardens outside and various areas inside which different habitats. The rainforest area is the best with two stories to see both within the rainforest and the canopy on top, and it's filled with butterflies!
  • A must to visit when in Cleveland. Great spot for whole families, or a casual go out with your loved one. Well designed gardens slow for both walk alone or a community get together.
