Landmark Tourist Spot
Babyland General Hospital is the birthplace of Cabbage Patch dolls located in Cleveland, Georgia. Xavier Roberts converted an old clinic into a facility from which to sell his dolls, originally called "Little People." It is presented as a birthing, nursery, and adoption center for premium Cabbage Patch Kids. Although the fad surrounding the dolls has largely died down, it is still heavily trafficked by diehard fans and curiosity seekers.New locationThe Babyland General Hospital looked to move into a new $2.5 million location in either Helen or Cleveland as revealed in the White County News Telegraph. Cleveland was decided on as the new site and it opened in the spring of 2009.

  • My mom recently wanted to take my son and a couple of aunts to visit Baby Land General. We live 3 hours south and decided to make a day trip of it. Cleveland Georgia has very little to offer as far as...  more »

  • A great place to take my 7y/o granddaughter!! She loved it! Will definitely come back. We brought our 3 girls 20 years ago and they still have their dolls
  • We went here because of my sister. She celebrated her birthday that weekend and I am so glad we went. The property is gorgeous!!! We didn't have any children with us, but I recommend visiting this property with or without children. The mountains in the background makes the property breathtaking. The "nurses" were very friendly and I found a baby for my granddaughter while I was there. I hope to visit again in another two years with her.
  • Babyland Hospital was a fun place to visit. My daughter loved seeing everything. It would have been nice to view a "birth," as we thought would occur, but that seems to be reserved for parties or special occasions.
  • Made me sad how commercial it is now. All kind of toys...it used to be so sweet and quaint. The magic was pretty much gone
  • Not sure what I expected. It's mostly a toy store with a few displays. Cabbage patch dolls are now soft faced, unlike those of my youth. Was hoping they would have more displays of old toys, maybe some classic accessories. It was an ok diversion on a rainy day. Plan to spend 30 minutes unless shopping with kids.
