Ground Zero Blues Club, Clarksdale

3.9
Clarksdale, Mississippi has long been described as "Ground Zero" for blues aficionados from around the globe. It all started here. That's why Ground Zero Blues Club® was created — to celebrate the area's rich blues heritage and to provide a forum in which it can continue.

Located at Ø Blues Alley next door to the Delta Blues Museum in the heart of historic downtown Clarksdale, Ground Zero Blues Club® opened in May 2001. Owned by local attorney and businessman, Bill Luckett; Academy Award-winning actor and Mississippi Delta resident, Morgan Freeman; and Clarksdale native and Memphis entertainment executive, Howard Stovall; Ground Zero Blues Club® is the place for anyone looking for an authentic Delta Blues experience.

  • We were here 4 years ago, there was a great blues band and everyone was dancing. We went yesterday, was not thrilled about the band, dance floor was so small, could hardly dance, a little disappointed...  more »
  • My wife and I were travelling the blues trail and for some mad reason our travel company booked us for a night in this town. It might be famous and been thriving 50 years ago but half the place looks ...  more »
  • We had lunch here today. The service was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere even in the middle of the day with no music, was epic! I love it! Lunch was delicious. We enjoyed every mouthful. In fact ...  more »

  • 12/29 2018 Really good ole blues bar, with decent food. I was scared by some of these other reviews, and actually was hesitant to go, but decided to try it anyway. I'm glad that I did. My wife and 3 young daughters really enjoyed the place and the food as well. NO COVER CHARGE at all during the afternoon that I was there for lunch, call before you go if that's a make or break for you. There may be cover charges at night when the bigger bands play, but none for the afternoon music. There was a wedding party there, other locals just drinking listening to the band. If you're not up tight, you will likely really like this place. My kids played pool at the free pool tables while we waited for our food. Our waitress T was very nice, and a pleasure to talk to. I asked for my Highway 61 burger done medium, it came out perfectly cooked, a little pink inside as I love my burger. The nachos with pulled pork was my wife's choice, and was a huge portion, also delicious. The kids were happy with there kids meals as well. Our total bill was $35. (No drinks, just water drinkers here) so not expensive at all. This is my first review, and I felt compelled to share my experience at Ground Zero because I really liked the place, and recommend trying it for yourself, you'll be glad you did.
  • Go for the music. Get some good drinks. The food is hit or miss. The service is often a miss. This club stays packed. The venue is fun and lively. I haven't had food there that I finished and the wait staff is often dismissive and slow, so I prefer just going to get my own drinks at the bar. This is definitely a locale you should hit if you're in Clarksdale, but think of it as a bar and music venue, not a restaurant.
  • A must visit. Great food great bands. I can feel the music from my head down to my shoes. Im poor and im from Mississippi and damn right i got the blues.
  • Good food! Our service was great! Music was great, as well! Really enjoyed ourselves!
  • Took my sweetie to Clarksdale,MS for Valentines Day! What a treat! Hometown service! Fried grits for appetizer, ribeye special grilled on the front porch AND Fried Snickers a la mode for dessert! Great blues jam that could headline any festival!
