Fountain Square, Cincinnati

4.3
#2 of 15 in Sightseeing in Cincinnati
Landmark Tourist Spot
Attend a free concert, admire the centrally located fountain, and gaze at the giant LED screen at Fountain Square. The center of the city’s civic, social, and commercial life, the square features water jets spouting from the floor that kids can run through, restaurants and pubs, plenty of tables and chairs, and an ice rink in the winter,. The 13 m (43 ft) bronze fountain in the middle of the square displays four figures representing the four principal uses of water--steam, water-power, navigation, and fisheries--around one central figure. If you need refreshment, lap up spouts of fresh water--the piece was designed as a drinking fountain. Park your car in the garage under the square for a fee, or lock your bike to the complimentary bicycle racks in the square. • Great place in the heart of downtown. Food trucks and market stalls one day a week each (Tu and Th respectively), live music occasionally and the fountain as an atrraction. A great place to have lunch, people watch or meet.
  • Such a fun place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. There is music often as well as booths. There is a fun bar called Jekyll in there too.
  • Great place to hang out. Located in the heart of the city - and rather the heart of the city - you have so many restaurants, bars, pubs, Greater's Ice Cream, Macy's, and a lot more. This is the place to visit if you are in Cincinnati. At the square, if you are coming in summers, you'll find P&G music stage where there are music performances - especially on Fridays and weekends - and many other activities. You may also find food trucks around. If you are coming in winters, there is an ice skating rink which charges about $20 per hour and you can enjoy ice skating. There are chairs and tables always where you can bring your food and enjoy. There are horse carriages on Vine Street which will take you for a tour. In addition, most of the downtown action happens at Fountain Square or close to that. On 6th Street, right behind Fountain Square, you'll find tons of restaurants serving Mexican, Indian, Italian, Asian, Mediterranean cuisine.
  • Sometimes I have a bit of wait time during my commute. I enjoy being at Fountain Square to rest for a bit, enjoy the fountain, and be a part of what's happening downtown. The birds also like the area, apparently.
  • Great place to hangout and have dinner.. they also put up ice-skating ring here around Thanksgiving.
