  • This is an amazing park that was man made and created to treat water. It is now open year round (used to be closed Nov - Jan). There is very little shade so be prepared. There are bathrooms and water fountain and pavilions at the entrance. Don't miss the overlook - you get 360 views of the park that are amazing. We rode our hybrid bikes and the roads are built up on the berms around the ponds and most are very well maintained. The northwest corner of the park had more grass growing up in the road making it more of a rough ride (would be fine on a mountain bike) and the views are not as good as the cattails are tall in June so you can't see as much. Very well marked paths. Tons of wildlife. Its a gem of a park.
  • This is a fantastic place to see wildlife -- especially birds, alligators and flowers. It is also educational to learn about how this vast man-made (and woman-made) wetlands is an experiment in how to use plants to cleanse 20 million gallons per day of treated sewage effluent. Hint: it is some of the clearest and cleanest water you will see in central Florida apart from the natural springs. The short drive from Orlando is well worth it.
  • This park is a gem. The City of Orlando did a masterful job making a sewer water cleansing project into a beautiful bird sanctuary with numerous well maintained walking and biking trails. Very impressive. NOt easy to find so watch closely for the turn off SR 50.
  • Tour offered that tells about the tiered pool system of water filtration and about the wildlife (notably the birds). There are trail maps and scattered benches. Restrooms and water fountain at the parking area but none on the trails so bring some...and sunscreen, a hat and binoculars. Winter is great to walk the forested nature areas that can be too wet in the rainy season from June to November. We saw many bald eagles, egrets, herons, wood storks, white and glossy ibis, rosette spoonbill, coots, ducks and more.
  • I had no idea this existed until a couple weeks ago. I suggest you schedule a tour as soon as possible. This is a fascinating man-made wetlands designed to clean waste water naturally, saving our Florida waterways and ecology. The amount of wildlife is stunning and the views are amazing. The tours themselves are fun and fact-filled. Every local should visit and if you are a tourist...add this to the top of your to-do list! You will not regret it! If you are photographer...this is a MUST visit!
