  • We took a boat to Singer Castle and had a guided tour through the castle and grounds. Amazing architecture and furnishings. Wonderful history on the early 1900s and the family that ran the Singer sewi...  more »
  • It was a nice place. It took an hour to get there though and our tour guide was awkward. Good thing to do if you have nothing to do.  more »
  • This was part of a tour we did with Uncle Sam's Boat Tours....the history is interesting as is the castle. It is beginning to need a lot of repairs and is "a little down in the heels". You do have to ...  more »

  • It's a nice "castle" with a guided tour. That means that how good a tour you get depends on how good the tour guide is. Well we had a high school student who did an okay job -- for a high school student. When I asked him some questions of the period mechanics; electricity, plumbing, he really didn't rise to the occasion. The island is currently owned by some investors and I guess that's how venture capital keeps costs down. It's not a remarkable structure all said. I think Boldt Castle, which is much closer to the port, is much better, feels much bigger, and is more of what you expect in a castle. Looking back on the building as we sail away, the one lingering question I have is: "Was that it?" I think for the fee, the hour trip there and back, they should invest in more knowledgeable and experienced tour guides. The talk we got on the Uncle Sam boat out there and back was much better than on the island. I get that they are trying to do weddings, fancy sleepovers, and ghost tours, but talking about the castle, how it was built, and something about the people who lived there would be worthwhile.
  • This place has hidden entrances and secret ladders in closets to move around house unnoticed, how cool is that? Overall its beautifully preserved place. Tour is very informative as well.
  • What a house "castle". You can stay at the house for a fee. but just walking around you can get the feeling of the wealth that they must have had back then.
