  • While driving the south rim of the canyon we stopped at the Spider Rock overlook. It is the last stop on the south rim. What an amazing overlook.

  • Spider rock is so beautiful and peaceful. It was a 9 to 11 me drive to this point from the entrance to the park. There is a parking lot so you don't have to worry.

  • Since Spider Woman is so important in Navajo mythology, and since Spider Woman lives on Spider Rock, this is an important site for any visitor. The trail is relatively easy, but I do not recommend...

  • Fabulous natural monument. I belive there are overlooks where you can view it from the rim. To see it from within the canyon requires a tour with a Navajo guide. I highly recommend this, if you are willing and can handle a 4/6 wheel drive vehicle adventure.
  • Came here, allured to re-live the experience and scenery from the classic movie McKenna's Gold. I was not disappointed!! There is no gold, but the Golden Ray's of rising sun, the shifting of the long shadoes of towering rocks and formations were enchanting. One can hear the sound of the river 800 feet down below. The view of the canyon from this location is extensive on all the three (two upstream and the downstream branches). The cliff is 700 feet steep drop, so caution needs to be adopted for going to the edge.
  • Very special place. Go there 16.30. best light. Later shadows rising. I came late. Almost dark. Still very special athmospere. It is not necessary to hire a Navajo guide. Just drive to the scenic point. Only if you want to see the spider rock from the ground of the valley then you need a local guide.
  • High lite of our visit to canyon de chelly
  • The overlook for Spider Rock is one of the best overlooks in all of Canyon de Chelly. A must-visit spot. Spider Rock is not only a place of interest, but it has spiritual and historical significance to the Navajo.
